Making films can no longer be completed only by adults. A group of primary school students in Southwest China’s Guizhou Province recently proved it. 1. The 90-minute film was made by some fourth and fifth graders. Combining science fiction, family education, school life, drug control and comedy, they made the film in a creative and interesting way.
According to the 9-year-old director Chenyan Zhirou, she began creating the story during her winter vacation in 2018, and finished writing it before this summer vacation. 2. She then began choosing actors and having interviews for the film. After further preparation, her camera started rolling.
From the early stages of costurme preparation and makeup to later directing and camera shooting, all processes were arranged in perfect order. 3. 整个过程中,每个小学生都尽全力在做。
4.学生们花了五周的时间制作这部电影. It included two weeks of shooting and three weeks of post-production, during which time every shot and every piece of music was carefully selected and designed.
5.There were many technical problems that they could not solve on their own, but they didn’t ask adults for help. They believed it could only be considered their own film without any adults’ help.
As for why they made this film, the students said they hoped to let more teachers and parents see what younger generations can do.

24、Poverty(贫困) is a big problem around the world. But China has done a good job of dealing with it and it has found its own way to fight poverty. Instead of just giving money to poor people, it has tried to educate people and give them the tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty. Ordinary people play a big role in the fight. Here are two of them.
Zhang Guimei has been helping girls pursue(追求) education since she traveled to Yunnan at the age of 17. As a teacher, Zhang was heartbroken when she saw her students quit school after finishing senior high school. They couldn’t go to college because their families couldn’t afford it. Young people have returned to the village to sell oranges online. By the end of 2019, 269 villagers had been lifted out of poverty. The per capita income(人均收入) reached 12,670 yuan, 40 times more than in the 1990s.
Over the last eight years, 98.99 million rural people have been lifted out of poverty. The 832 counties(县) and l28,000 villages which these people live in are no longer in poverty. China has been responsible for reducing 70 percent of poverty worldwide since the late 1970s.

25、Mother's Day is a time of memory and celebration for Mom. It is a time of breakfast in bed and family gatherings.
The earliest Mother's Day celebrations came from the spring celebrations of old Greece. During the 1600's, England celebrated a day called “Mothering Sunday”.
During this time many of the poor in England worked as servants for the rich. As they worked far away from their homes, the servants would live at the houses of their employers(雇主). On Mothering Sunday the servants would have the day off and were encouraged to return home and spend the day with their mothers.
In the United States Mother's Day was first suggested in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe as a day offered to peace. Ms. Howe would hold Mother's Day meetings in Boston, Mass every year.
In 1907 Ana Jarvis, from Philadelphia, began a movement to set a national Mother's Day, Ms. Jarvis asked her mother's church(教堂)in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate Mother's Day on the second anniversary(周年纪念) of her mother's death, the 2nd Sunday of May. By the next year Mother's Day was also celebrated in Philadelphia.

26、 My friends and I used to be a little afraid of the old house on the corner. It’s painted grey with plants almost as tall as the house. No one has lived there for years. Some of the older kids said a monster lived in the house.
One day when we were playing in the street, Sara hit the ball hard and it went towards the yard of the old house.
Sara was too scared to move. “Well,” I said. “Let’s go to get it.”
We jumped into the yard. I stayed near the wall, afraid to get close to the house. We searched and searched, but nothing turned up. All we found was rubbish of years. “We could,” said Mariana. “Er … we could go inside.”
The door of the house wasn’t locked. Half the windows were broken. Though it was light outside, it was dark inside. I felt foolish looking for a black ball in a completely dark room. Just then, we all heard a low, deep creak(咯吱声) coming from the ceiling above.
“The monster!” cried Sara. We all held our breath. Then we heard the footsteps getting closer and closer. It was growling(咆哮). And … barking?
“Huh?” said Mariana.
It was actually a big dog, smiling with the ball in his mouth.
“You’re no monster at all!” we said. Mariana took the dog home and named him Monster.

27、I know I’m not an ordinary (普通的) ten-year-old kid. I mean, sure, I do ordinary thing. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I play video games. Things like that make me ordinary, I guess. Also, I feel ordinary inside. But I know ordinary kids don’t make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. I know ordinary kids don’t get stared at (盯着) wherever they go.
If I found a magic lamp and I could have one wish, I would wish that I had a common face that no one ever noticed at all. I would wish that I could walk down the street without people seeing me and then doing that look-away thing.
But I’m kind of used to how I look by now. I know how to pretend (假装) I don’t see the faces people make when they see me. We’ve all gotten pretty good at that kind of thing: Mom and Dad my elder sister Via, and me. Actually, I should take that hack: Via is not so good at it. She can get really angry when people do something rude to me. Like, for example, one time in the playground, some older kids saw me and made some noises. I don’t even know what the noises were exactly because I didn’t hear them myself, but Via heard them and she just started shouting at those kids. That’s the way she is. I’m not that way.
Via doesn’t see me as ordinary. She says she does, but I know that if I were ordinary, she wouldn’t feel like she needs to protect me that much. Mom and Dad don’t see me as ordinary, either. They see me as special. I think the only person in the world who realizes how ordinary I am is me.
My name is August, by the way. I won’t describe what I look like to you. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.
【1】Why does August think he is not ordinary from Paragraph 1?
A.Because he eats ice cream just like other children.
B.Because he likes riding a bike on his way home.
C.Because he often plays video games at school.
D.Because he makes other kids run away screaming.
【2】What kind of person do you think Via is according to the passage?
A.Via is rude and often shouts to others.
B.Via is kind and loves her brother very much.
C.Via is impatient and always gets angry easily.
D.Via is silly and not good at getting on with others.
【3】What can we infer from the underlined sentence in the last paragraph?
A.No one knows what August looks like.
B.August is not good at describing things.
C.August is a shy boy and likes staying alone.
D.August may have a very special appearance.
