1、阅读下面的短文,将划线部分译成英文或中文。
We will finally grow up one day, leaving our parents and facing the challenges in life. Parents may not be able to solve every problem for us. ①Instead, we should have enough life skills so that we can deal with the problems in our life.
This is what our country tries to do now: Helping more students gain working spirit. To stress (强调) the importance of hard-working spirit education (劳动教育) among students of different ages, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council released a guideline (指南) recently. The guideline calls for students to respect work. ②学生们应该通过劳动学会必要的生活技能。The government keeps stressing the importance of hard-working spirit education. But this has been overlooked in recent years. Many teens do not value the importance of working hard and are not interested in doing so.
③The guideline says that schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard. Primary and middle schools should provide students with hard-working spirit classes every week, according to the guideline. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. ④例如,学校可以教同学们怎样植树。
As children’s first teachers, parents should also encourage children to do chores at home. Students should master one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms. ⑤If you don’t have these skills, your education will be incomplete.

24、Green is an important color in nature. It is the color of grass and the leaves on trees. It is also the color of most growing plants.
Sometimes, the word “green” means young, fresh and growing. For example, a greenhorn is someone who has no experience. In the 1th century, a greenhorn was a young cow or an ox whose horns (角)had not yet developed. A century later, a greenhorn was a soldier who had no experience in war. By the 18th century, a greenhorn had the meaning it has today—a person who is new in a job.
Someone who is good at growing plants is said to have a green thumb(大拇指). The expression comes from the early 20th century. A person with a green thumb can make plants grow quickly and well. The Green Revolution(绿色革命)is the name given some years ago to the development of new kinds of rice and other grains. It was the result of hard work by agricultural scientists who had green thumbs.
Green is also the color used to describe the powerful feeling. Jealousy(嫉妒). The green eyed monster is not a dangerous animal from outer space. It is an expression used about 400 years ago by the British writer William Shakespeare in his play “Othello”. It describes the unpleasant feeling when someone has something he wants.

26、 According to a study in Norway, students -who stayed in school longer than others of their age scored higher in intelligence tests.
In the middle of the 1950s, the government began requiring students to attend school until the age of sixteen instead of fourteen. Communities had spent almost twenty years making the change. So some students went to school for seven years while others went for at least nine years. This difference gave researchers the chance to see if the extra schooling had any effect on the development of intelligence.
All young men in Norway must take a test of their cognitive (认知) abilities at the age of nineteen in preparation for required military service (兵役). This is commonly called an IQ test.
The researchers compared the test results of 107,000 young men to their years of schooling. Taryn Ann Galloway,a researcher at the University of Oslo, says, " The young men who were basically forced to stay in school for two years longer actually do have higher IQs. So, based on that, we can say that increasing schooling does actually have an effect on their cognitive abilities."
An average IQ was one hundred. Most people scored between eighty-five and one hundred and fifteen.
Ms. Galloway says that students who attended school for nine years scored seven points higher than those for seven years. Those who went for eight years scored about four points higher.
Experts have debated(争论)for years about the degree to which people are born with intelligence or develop it later. This is the nature or nurture(培养)argument - the influence of biology compared to the environment where people are raised and educated. This study seems to support the nurture side.
