25、   Mike Myers is a teacher at Chauncey Rose High School in Terre Haute, Indiana. Last year, he taught his students about the world’s rain forests. They learned that rain forests are important because the plants and animals of the rain forest give us food, wood, and medicine.

Destruction of the world’s rain forests is a serious problem. Unluckily, rain forests are disappearing at a rate of 80 acres (英亩) per minute! Facial (面部) Expressions

Your facial expression can influence your voice. For example, if you smile, your voice will sound warm and friendly; if you have an angry look on your face, it can make you sound unpleasant.

Volume (音量)

If you speak too loudly, you could sound angry. And if you speak too softly, it’ll be difficult to hear you. So, but not so loud that you’re shouting.

Pace (速度)

The pace of your voice is how quickly you speak. And this can show how you feel. For example, an angry person might speak faster than normal. Or a downhearted (沮丧的) person might speak very slowly. Try speaking a little more slowly than normal. This will make you sound confident, and it’ll make it easier for the other person to understand you.

Gestures (手势)

Gesturing can influence the tone of your voice. When you gesture, you bring more air into the lungs (肺), which can make your voice sound warmer. Gestures are also useful to help you stress the right words or even find the words you need. Movement
