四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Parking has been a problem for drivers for a long time in most cities in China. The Transportation Department is mapping out a new plan for the city’s parking system. There are about 100 thousand cars on the road in a medium-sized city but only enough parking space to provide room for 15 percent of these vehicles. It is no wonder that local drivers get so worried trying to find a place to park.

The number of the private car owners is becoming larger and larger. A medium-sized city sometimes sends out about 1, 000 private car licenses in a month. Industry experts say this suggests that people have a strong, active interest in buying cars.

By the year 2016, the number of private cars in China reached about 150 million. If one parking lot is for one car, then a lot of parking space should be built for these vehicles. The center of most cities is short of parking space. However, experts point out that simply building more parking lots in these areas is not practical and doesn’t solve the problem.

The idea of a “Park &Ride” system has been suggested. This means that underground train and city train should be developed quickly. Drivers can leave their vehicles in car parks nearby subway and bus stations and then they can ride public transport to go to the city center. Based on this idea, the city will cut down the number of parking lots in the city center and charge higher parking fees. But it will build more parking areas near main subway and bus stops.

【4】This passage is mainly about ________.

When I was seven years old, my family created an ant farm. First, we put clean sand in a thin glass box. Then we waited for the ants to arrive. After the ants were in the glass farm, they started to make tunnels. I was amazed that each one knew exactly what to do. Each had its own job.

On the fifth day a tragedy(悲剧) happened. I put my face so close to the glass farm that I knocked it over. All the tunnels fell down. Although the ants remained alive after their "earthquake", one by one they began to die. I was scared as I watched them give up their tunnel building to carry the bodies to a corner of the farm.

My mother said that the ants were dying of sadness. They simply could not stand that their tunnels were gone. Although much time has passed, I still think of that ant farm. Mom had hoped it would teach me about the natural world, but it taught me much more.

Over the years, I came to realize the importance of teamwork. Working together, the ants were able to make an amazing world for themselves. I also learned that they should be admired for their hard work. But there was an even larger lesson that I did not realize until recently: adversity(逆境) is a natural part of life, and must be accepted. Unlike the ants, we cannot give up when we are sad. We have to realize that if a tunnel is gone, we must build another.

Giving up, I say, is not a good choice.

【3】What can we know from the passage?

A.The writer broke the glass box because it made his face dirty.

B.The ants died one by one because the tunnels were destroyed.

C.Unlike people, teamwork is not so important for the ants.

D.Giving up is a good way when we meet troubles.

【4】What did the writer come to realize a few years later?

A.Working together is useless.   B.Teamwork is important.

C.He can't accept adversity.   D.Working alone is amazing.

【5】Which could be the best title for the passage?

  • 27、What is a creative person like? Some people say creative person wants to be know it all. He wants to know about all kinds of things, because he never knows when these ideas might come together to form a new idea. It may happen soon or several years later.

I agree that people need knowledge to form new ideas. However, knowledge alone won’t make a person creative. Many people know lots of facts but nothing creative happens. Their knowledge just sits in her minds because they don’t think about what they know in any new ways. The real key to being creative lies in what you do with your knowledge.

Creative thinking requires you to search for ideas and manipulate your knowledge and experience. You try different ways, first one, and then another. Often you don’t get anywhere. You try crazy and impractical(不切实际的),you can make something new. The Nobel Prize winner Albert Szent﹣Gyorgyi said, “Discovery consists(由...组成)of looking at the same thing as everyone else and thinking something different. ”

Why don’t we “think something different” more often? There are two main reasons. The first is that we don’t need to be creative for most of what we do. For example, we don’t need to be creative when we’re riding bikes or doing some shopping. Another reason is that our own attitudes(态度) may stop us from being creative. Most of us have certain attitudes and they keep us thinking in the same ways. These attitudes are necessary for most of what we do.

There are times, however, when we need to be creative and come up with new ways to complete our goals. By changing attitudes and taking advantage of our knowledge(普通的) extraordinary.

【1】What does Paragraph 2 mainly talk about? ________

    A.Why knowledge makes people creative.

    B.When people should be creative.

    C.How people know creative ideas.

    D.What make people creative.

    A.accept something quickly

    B.talk about something often

    C.use something skillfully

    D.remember something deeply

【3】Why does the writer use Albet Szent Gyorgyi’s words in Paragraph 3? ________

A.To explain why discoveries are very important for people.

B.To show the importance of thinking in different ways.

C.To suggest some possible ways of being creative.

D.To tell how famous scientists made their discoveries.

【4】What is the writer’s opinion on being creative? ________

A.People with more knowledge want to be creative.

B.People should be creative for most of what they do.

C.Being creative needs people to change their attitudes.

D.There is some doubt about the reasons for being creative.
