24、 Wearing a mask while sleeping at home sounds a little crazy. But Wu Keying did so during the novel coronavirus(新冠肺炎)outbreak. "I feared that I would be infected. Now I know it's not necessary to do so. But I am still worried about when the epidemic will end," said the 13-year-old from Chengdu, Sichuan province. Being stuck inside makes her feel anxious.
In fact, many people have experienced feelings like Wu. Nearly 80 percent of people, are deeply worried about the outbreak, while 40 percent strongly fear it, according to a survey released on Jan 27 by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

25、This summer I attended my first music festival. Most of the festivalgoers needed to buy tickets, but we didn’t. Instead, we volunteered as festival managers. We each worked 3 shifts (轮班) - each shift was 8 hours long-in exchange for a free ticket to the festival.
Leeds Festival is a large music festival which takes place yearly at the end of August, and thousands of people attend it each year.
There were several different periods. Each of them was fit for a different music taste: rock, pop, alternative and dance. As well as the fantastic music, there were also funfair (杂耍) rides, food outlets and a silent disco. I loved silent discos: everyone had a set of headphones (耳机) with two channels and music was played through the headphones. As a result, people could dance and sing along to completely different songs!
While we weren’t working, we were free to enjoy the festival. We saw different kinds of artists across the weekend. I really enjoyed seeing Imagine Dragons, Vampire Weekend and, of course, Arctic Monkeys.
We camped for five nights and it was freezing every night! However, we had a really nice campsite. I had a great time and would certainly be returning the next year!

26、 Six children were in hospital. They got infected(感染) wih E.coli(大肠杆菌). They were very sick, but the doctors didn’t know what caused the infection. They called Dr. Richard Besser. They were sure he would find out the cause.
First, Dr. Besser carefully studied the E. coli that the children had. He looked at the E.coli’s DNA. The DNA showed that this kind of E. coli was dangerous to people. Dr. Besser knew this kind of E. coli could spread from animals to people. Perhaps the children had got close to animals that carried the E.coli. Besser found other E .coli cases in the children’s living place. But it still didn’t make the answer clear.
Dr. Besser then made a list of what the sick children had eaten(吃). They had all eaten cheese, apple juice, and fish. He then made a list of what healthy children in the same place had eaten, and compared(对比 )the two lists. They ate the cheese and fish, but not the apple juice.
Dr. Besser went to the factory making the apple juice. He saw that there were animals around the apple trees, and he saw the workers using dirty fallen apples. More importantly, he saw they didn’t wash the apples before they made the juice, and they didn’t do anything to kill the E. coli in the juice. 27、You might not usually pick up someone else’s rubbish. But imagine if everyone does it, the world will be a much cleaner place!
When I was young, my parents and my teachers always told me to pick up any rubbish around me. Each day at school during our lunch break, every student had to find some rubbish. We put it in the bin before we returned to class. Our school was always very clean because everyone spent one or two minutes picking up rubbish every day.
That same idea is now becoming popular around the world, thanks to Take 3. Australian surfer (冲浪运动员) Amanda Marechal and ocean scientist Roberta Dixon-Valk came up with the idea in 2009. They asked everyone to pick up three pieces of rubbish each time they visited the beach. Why did they ask people to pick up just three pieces of rubbish, instead of 10 or 20? They think it’s an easy thing that people might actually do.
Today, Take 3 is a popular idea around the world, and not just on the beach. Take 3 has gone to the United Kingdom, the United States, Costa Rica and some other countries. Their latest plan is to make an app. It will help people learn more about what kinds of plastic are polluting the ocean.
Do you want to make the world a cleaner place? Why not start a Take 3 group with your friends this weekend?
