21、A travel diary is one of the best ways to keep a long voyage in memory. Many details that don’t seem important while you are writing your travel diary often turn out to be so memorable.
【1】. When you are on a busy journey, it is easy to forget to write. You may promise yourself that you will write later, but that almost never happens. Take a few minutes every day and put down your memories. It doesn’t have to be long, just on a regular basis.
Use your “down time” for your travel diary. 【2】. You can always put down a few lines in your travel diary when you are on trains, waiting for planes, drying your laundry, or waiting in line.
At the beginning of your diary, write down the day, where you are, who you are with, maybe even the weather and what you eat. 【3】. Years later when you read your diary, you will know exactly what you were doing on that day.
【4】. Listing facts and figures is fine but that isn’t why you traveled. A long journey is a time for self-reflection. Memories of these feelings fade quickly with time. Write about those experiences while the memories are fresh is important.
【5】. Whenever you use a ticket for a train or a museum or a ride, tape the stubs(票根) to your diary. They are pieces of history from your journey. Years later you can look at the ticket stubs and see exactly what you were doing on a specific day and how much it cost.
A.Keep ticket stubs.
B.Book your ticket in advance.
C.Focus on writing about how you feel.
D.You’d better write down as much as possible.
E.These are the first details people tend to forget.
F.Get into the habit of writing your travel diary every day.
G.There is a surprising amount of down time while traveling.
22、 A bird went to seek (寻找) its happiness in the distance.
It flew and flew when it suddenly saw a little wilting (枯萎的) flower, whose face was full of smile. Not knowing why, the bird asked the little flower, “You are going to die. Why are you still so happy?”
“I am going to bear fruit and my dream will come true,” said the little flower.
Then the little bird saw it: happiness is a hope in the heart.
The little bird kept flying; it flew and flew when it suddenly saw a lame (瘸的) duck, which was singing a song. Not knowing why, it asked the duck, “You are so unlucky. Why are you still so happy?”
“Because I saw a little duck fall. And I helped it stand up again!”
Then the little bird saw it: happiness is a love in the heart.
The bird kept flying; it flew and flew when it suddenly saw a spider climbing a slippery wall. It fell off the wall for several times, but it went on climbing over and over again. Not knowing why, the little bird asked the spider, “You failed again and again. Why don’t you have pain but happiness on your face?”
“I am sure to climb up the wall if I try my best.”
Because it had seen the truth: happiness is not in the distance but in your own heart.

23、No one knows exactly how many disabled people there are in the world, but estimates (估计) suggest the figure is over 450 million. The number of disabled people in India alone is probably more than double the total population of Canada.
In the United Kingdom, about one in ten people have some disability.Disability is not just something that happens to other people: as we get older, many of us will become less mobile, hard of hearing or have failing eyesight.
Disablement can take many forms and occur at any time of life. Some people are born with disabilities. Many others become disabled as they get older. There are many progressive disabling diseases. The longer time goes on, the worse they become. Some people are disabled in accidents. Many others may have a period of disability in the form of a mental illness. All are affected by people's attitude towards them.
Disabled people face many physical barriers.Next time you go shopping or to work or visit friends, imagine how you would manage if you could not get up steps, or on to buses and trains. How would you cope if you could not see where you were going or could not hear the traffic? But there are other barriers: prejudice can be even harder to break down and ignorance inevitably represents by far the greatest barrier of all.It is almost impossible for the able-bodied to fully appreciate what the severely disabled go through, so it is important to draw attention to these barriers and show that it is the individual person and their ability, not their disability, which counts.
【1】The first paragraph points out that __________ .
A.there are many disabled people in the world

24、Who would have thought that there was any connection between a cup of coffee and a bird, butterfly, or even a bat? Such seems to be the case, however, as methods for growing coffee plants have gradually changed over time.
Coffee plants were first discovered growing in Africa hundreds of years ago. The plants grew under a wide cover of forests, which protected the coffee plants' leaves from the burning sun. As coffee was introduced to other countries, farmers would naturally try to grow the plants in the shade of tall trees. These trees provided more than shade for coffee plants; they were also home for many species of birds, insects, and other plants.
Over the past 30 to 40 years, people developed a new kind of coffee plant, one which grows well in open sunlight. Sun-grown coffee produced two times more coffee than shade-grown coffee in the same amount of time and space. As a result, the growing need for coffee makes the sun-grown method appear to be the best way to grow coffee.
However, this newer method has some unexpected results. First, the lack of tree cover leaves the land open to heavy rainfall, which can wash away the soil's nutrients (营养物质). This necessitates an increased use of fertilizers (化肥) and additives, which is likely to create health risks. Second, as forests are taken down to make way for sun-grown coffee plants, native and migratory birds no longer have a home. This is threatening many species, and the effect is now being examined and recorded by ornithologists, who are discovering sharp falls in some species that travel to the northern United States each year. Finally, more pesticides (农药) are used in the sun-grown method, all of which have a bad influence on both the environment and the long-term health of the coffee plants themselves.
Today, as more people recognize the problems of coffee grown in the sun, perhaps they will be willing to pay the higher prices, encouraging coffee growers to return to the more natural method of producing this worldwide product.
【1】Coffee plants can grow naturally when _____.
A. there is much hot sunshine
B. there is enough heavy rainfall
C. there are tall trees around them
D. there are lots of nutrients in the soil
【2】What do ornithologists most probably do?
A. Study birds. B. Grow coffee.
C. Protect forests. D. Make pesticides.

B. The passage mainly explains the connection between coffee and sunlight.
C. More and more coffee farmers are growing coffee plants in the shade.
D. The author wants coffee farmers to grow shade-grown coffee.

26、概要写作
Bears and humans often meet in National Parks. Although campers and hikers are warned not to fed the bears, many people ignore these warning and feed the beasts anyway. When bears arc used to people's food, problems soon arise.
Bears like to cat a large variety of things, both meat and vegetable. Without human assistance, bears live nicely on roots, twigs, leaves of trees, insects and small animals. With people around, the bears’ tastes quickly expand to in-chide sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, and anything else they can temp humans into giving up.
Bears often develop clever strategics for getting people to let go their food supplies. More often than not, an unsuspecting hiker has taken off his or her pack for a rest only to have a bear charge out of the woods, grab the pack and quickly disappear into the underbrush with it. Hanging the pack on a tree branch won't help. Bears have been known to climb up, jump off, and catch the pack on the way down. One mother bear stretched up with her baby on her shoulders to reach a pack stored on a pole. Many bears threaten people into giving up their supplies. Although a bear is unlikely to attack a person and would probably run away if screamed at, few people are willing to do so. Most people drop the pack and run the other way. This, of course, delights the bear.
In some places, the Park Service installed some metal barrels with lids to help campers keep their supplies safe from bears. Although the bears were unable to open these containers, the effort was less than successful. Most campers, unable to tell the metal drums from rubbish cans, never used them for the intended purpose.
