二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Although staying focused can be a challenge in this world, it is still possible. Here are some tips to help you focus on the job at hand and become creative.

Engage in positive daydreaming. This involves first turning your attention inward. Try traveling with your mind to someplace enjoyable. 【1】. Pair your daydreaming with some form of low-key activity such as walking and gardening. Let your mind wander for about 20 minutes this way and watch what happens. Doing this several times a day can offer your mind a fresh approach to the job at hand.

【2】. Are you a person who is sharp-minded in the morning? Or is a night owl more of your style? Either way, it doesn’t matter as long as you schedule your most important projects during your brain’s periods of best performance. 【3】. Instead, reserve the best time for the big stuff.

Try your hobbies. 【4】. It is also a good way to invite innovation in ways that focusing doesn’t. In many cases, it can even help you come up with solutions to problems you’re facing at work or home.

Turn off text messaging and social media. Pretty basic? Sure, but vital. It allows us a deep dive into focus. It lets our brains get a chance to complete full sentences of thought. It helps us to reset and think about what’s really important. 【5】.

A.Make friends with your body clock

B.Doing so will help make better decisions

C.Focusing your mind is key to improving your focus

D.Doing things you are interested in can help your mind relax

E.Avoid spending your best brain hours doing unimportant things

F.Most important of all, it reminds us there’s a world outside our screens

G.Maybe it’s a walk through an imaginary forest or sunbathing on a warm beach

  • 22、Commonly, to better remember what is taught in class, students often take notes in class just by writing something important down in their books or marking some significant parts. However, visual methods of processing materials are more effective to remember the important information of a text.

Note-taking practices like mind-mapping lead students to organize their thoughts visually, helping them understand and remember the contents. 【1】

Rethink your paper. Encourage students to play with spacing, vary text sizes, and add symbols(符号) anywhere on the page.

Start with a little practice. 【2】 So try to encourage them to start off just scribbling(草草地写).

Develop a symbolic language. Educator Wendi Pillars has students recognize 10 key words or concepts from the current learning materials. He begins developing a visual collection of shorthand(速记). 【3】Eventually, Students will develop their own vocabularies and visual note-taking styles.

Keep it low-vividness(逼真度). Communicate to your students that there’s no need to use visual note-taking techniques. 【4】 But students can find a way to comb the relationships between topics and concepts.

【5】 Diagrams, freehand drawing, mind-mapping, and similar techniques are ways to get students’ thoughts down on paper. Attaching a grade to visual note-taking might prevent the student as they struggle to understand the difficult material, so provide reflection rather than a grade.

If you want to make your note-making effective, you can try these visual methods of processing materials.

    A.Skip the grading.

    B.Remark on the paper.

C.Everybody can refer to it when taking notes.

D.They can’t use their own ways to draw mind maps.

E.Here are some ways to introduce visual note-taking.

F.The process isn’t about ensuring that drawings look good.

G.Not all students will welcome the visual methods at first.

  • 23、   Jigsaw puzzles(拼图游戏)aren't just fun. They can also make you feel less anxious, especially when you put them well together.

While out shopping for Christmas presents, I bought myself a jigsaw puzzle. It was an unusual buy, one that I now recognize as an attempt at dealing with that particular stress many of us experience during the holidays. Don't get me wrong-I love seeing my wife and family. But holiday get-togethers have a way of putting any personal shortcomings at center stage.

Robyn Breen, a dance instructor knows the feeling. Breen suffered from anxiety and she turned to puzzles. It worked, and jigsaws have since become a necessary part of her daily routine. "I thought, Whoa, I feel really good when I'm doing this," she says.

Susan Vandermorris is a clinical neuropsychologist and a global leader in brain health. Any type of puzzle is good for the brain and points to the stress-relieving benefits of jigsaws, in particular, she says. "If you're doing a puzzle, you are, free from the interruptions and stresses of day-to-day life," she explains.

Vandermorris believes that doing puzzles with others has even more health benefits than doing them on your own, adding that it provides a rare opportunity for intergenerational engagement(参与). "Get the teenagers off their smart phones and working on a puzzle with Grandma, and suddenly you've got a really nice family interaction that seems to be harder and harder to come by these days," she adds.

The 23-year-old Jack from Marshfield, Massachusetts, has autism(自闭症)and first took to puzzles as a kid because they "gave him a break from the demands of socializing", says his mother. As Jack grew, so did his puzzling talent and its benefits. In 2014, while still in high school, he completed a 32, 256-piece puzzle(then the largest in the world). "When I completed my first huge puzzle, I invited friends and family to share my achievement," he says.

【1】The author bought a jigsaw puzzle to ________.

D.prevent him exposing shortcomings to others

    A.They are boring.

A.They can cure many psychological diseases.

B.They can help make one's dream come true.

C.They can raise a person's sense of selflessness.

D.They are probably good for those with mental problems.

B.Many Famous Figures Enjoy Jigsaw Puzzles

C.Jigsaw Puzzles Are Necessary for a Healthy Life

  • 24、My friend Jason and I wanted to do something to help other people who are less fortunate and help us grow at the same time. After we decided that we would volunteer in Nepal, I did some research on the Internet and I found Volunteer Nepal and felt strongly that it was the right choice for us.

While making our plans, Jason and I realized that others might like the opportunity to be a part of our experience. So before leaving for Nepal, we asked the people we know whether they would be interested in donating (捐赠) cash or goods to Nepal Orphans(孤儿) Home.

One friend, whose family owns a chain called Drake Supermarket, told others about it. His effort paid off. We received donations that filled 29 boxes with sporting goods, toys, coloring books, pencils, children’s books, and more. The boxes were later taken to Drake’s warehouse where I prepared them for shipment. Drake agreed to ship them to Nepal for free.

The boxes had arrived at the Volunteer House when we arrived there. The next day, Jason and I unpacked the boxes. The children from the orphanages lined up and were able to choose a gift. This process took about an hour, but the looks on their faces and the happiness that we saw in their eyes made it one of the best days of our life.

We visited the orphanages there in the following days. Being with the children at the orphanages was both sad and wonderful. I’m sure that anyone who has volunteered will understand what I mean by that. My experience as a volunteer was very rewarding(有益的). It has changed me as a person and the way I viewed life in the past.

  • 26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

The homemade book bag was sprawled (随意放在) across my bed. It appeared to have taken over the entire room. I closed my eyes for a second, trying to imagine the large shoulder bag gone. I opened my eyes again. It was still there. I knew that my mom had spent all day happily sewing. Worse still, I realized that the fabric (布料) was actually left over from a toy horse that my mom made for me when I was a baby. My mother had even quilted (缝制) little running horses along each side and wrote my name on one side to make certain that no one would be confused as to who owned this furry monster.

“Do you like it? If you don’t like it, you don’t have to use it,” Mom said.

“Oh no, Mom, I love it,” I lied, picking the bag up and rubbing (摩挲) the soft fabric against my face. The last thing I wanted to do was to hurt her feelings.

The next day I was to start seventh grade at a new school. I was nervous and excited. That first day at school I heard the whispers. “Have you seen the new girl? Did you see that big furry bag?” Then there were giggles.

Because I started school in the middle of the year, all of the lockers had been assigned to other kids. There was no storage available for me, so I was forced to haul all my stuff around in the oversized fuzzy bag. Wild stories flew back and forth about what I kept in the bag that never left my side. Drugs? some kids wondered. Clothes? Is she homeless?

There was nothing interesting in that bag, just my coat during cold weather, school books, papers and pens. Eventually, most students pretty much ignored me, but some of the kids teased me about the fuzzy horse bag. People grabbed at it, pretended to pat it like a dog and tried to toss their trash into it. My teachers didn’t seem to notice, probably because I didn’t ever complain or ask for help.

As the year progressed, I started to hate that bag. I blamed all my problems on it. I felt helpless and alone, miserable, and homesick for California and my old friends.

One day toward the end of the school year, my math teacher assigned each student a partner to work with on word problems. I was told to work with Debbie, a popular redheaded girl who was in several of my classes.

    注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右;

    2. 续写部分分为两段,每段开头语已为你写好。

She smiled and waved me over toward her desk, so I grabbed my bag and quietly moved toward her.

Then Debbie started to laugh-not at me, but at the situation.
