二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   Educators today are more and more often heard to say that computer literacy is absolutely necessary for college students. Many even argue that each incoming freshman should have  his or her own microcomputer. What advantages do computers offer the college students?

Any student who has used a word processor will know one compelling reason to use a computer: to write papers. Although not all students feel comfortable composing on a word processor, most find revising and editing much easier on it. One can alter, insert, or delete just by pressing a few keys, thus eliminating the need to rewrite or re-type. Furthermore, since the revision process is less difficult, students are more likely to revise as often as is necessary to end up with the best paper possible. For these reasons, many freshman English courses require the use of a word processor.

Computers are also useful in the context of language courses, where they are used to drill students in basic skills. Software programs strengthen ESL(English as a Second Language ) instruction, as well as instruction in French, German, Spanish, and other languages. By using these programs on a regular basis, students can improve their skills in a language while proceeding at their own pace.

Science students take advantage of computers in many ways. Using computer graphic capabilities, for example, botany( 植物学) students can represent and analyze different plant growth patterns. Medical students can learn to interpret computerized images of internal body structures. Physics students can complete complex calculations far

more quickly than they could without the use of computer.

Similarly, business and accounting students find that computer spreadsheet programs are all but important to many aspects of their work, while students pursuing careers in graphic arts, marketing, and public relations find that knowledge of computer graphic is important. Education majors learn to develop grading systems using computers, while social science students use computers for analyzing and graphically displacing their research results.

It is no wonder, then, that educators support the purchase and use of microcomputers by students. A useful tool, the computer can help students learn. And that is, after all, the reason for going to college.

    1The word"literacy" (Line 1,Paragraph 1) means _________.

A.the ability to read and write B.the ability to use

    C.literature D.the knowledge of language

2According to the author, a word processor can be used to_________.

    A.revise papers

    B.retype papers

C.reduce the psychological burden of writing papers

D.improve the writing skills of a student

3According to the author, the reason for students to go to college is _________.

A.to learn something B.to perfect themselves

C.to improve computer skills D.to make the best use of computers

4The main purpose of this passage is to _________.

A.persuade the educators to increase computer use in their own classroom

B.analyze advantages and disadvantages of computer use among college students

C.identify some of the ways that computers benefit college students

D.describe how computers can be used to teach foreign languages

  • 22、I don't remember exactly what grade I was in when it happened. All I remember is that suddenly Math was no longer fun. Since the first grade I had always loved Math. I was good at adding and got 100 percent on almost every paper I did. All at once, though, we were doing something called multiplication(乘法)and I was not good at it. I had great difficulty in Math until the teacher gave us a card. On it were written the multiplication tables. I stared at them and smiled. Here were all the answers I needed. I read them over and over until they became stuck in my head. On our next test I did great again. I continued to love Math.

I began to notice how multiplication worked magic. I saw how a little handful of seeds could produce a garden full of food, how having two rabbits could soon give you twenty, how a few caring words could heal(治愈)a hurting heart. And I saw how a single act of loving-kindness could travel from person to person, heart to heart, and soul to soul until it circled the world.

The truth is that we are all multipliers in this life. The only question is what we are going to multiply. Are we going to multiply the feai; anger, and distrust that exist in this world? Or are we going to multiply the love, kindness, and forgiveness? I choose the latter and I hope you will do the same. Be a multiplier then. Help make this world a better place. Spend your days sowing smiles, planting kindness and sharing love. You will be amazed at how much and how rapidly it multiplies. You will be amazed at the harvest you will get in.

【1】What helped the author out of the trouble with Math?

    A.The multiplication tables.

    B.The good reference books.

    C.The practical adding skill.

    D.The teacher's explanation.

【2】How did the author express amazement at multiplication in paragraph 2?

    A.By listing data.

    B.By describing scenes.

    C.By giving examples.

    D.By comparing opinions.

【3】What is the author's main purpose in writing the text?

A.To explain the reasons why we multiply things.

B.To persuade people to multiply positive things.

C.To introduce benefits of becoming a multiplier.

D.To show how we can spend time as multipliers.

  • 23、   There are many barriers on the way to success. Fortunately, most of them can be overcome   1 I'd like to show the four most important strategies I know to overcome success barriers.

    1. Decide what success means to you.

Everybody wants success. For some, success means making a lot of money for others it means having great relationships with great people. If you're not clear on what success means to you, you're going to chase an unclear version of success, which constitutes a major barrier in achieving it. 2 You're never going to catch it.

    2. Look at the barrier as an outsider.

Imagine that the goal you want to reach is not yours — it's someone else's. And the obstacle that prevents reaching it is theirs as well. And as an outsider, you have a taste for problem solving. 3 It's like seeing your situation with new eyes, and often you'll be amazed at the resolutions you'll see with these new eyes.

    3. Inform yourself.

4They have a good comprehension of the situation and the obstacle, so it's easy for them to see appropriate ways to overcome it. How to do these? By constantly learning, especially in the areas where you want to achieve performance, and keeping yourself very well informed.

    4. Keep trying.

I find that many people don't overcome obstacles because they only try one or two ways to overcome it, and if these don't work, they give up. In order to overcome the obstacle, you'll need to try several solutions, and move from one to another based on the results you get. 5

    A. It's like chasing a ghost.

    B. Eventually you'll find the best solution.

    C. It's not always easy, but it's almost always possible.

    D. Give this strategy a try in dealing with obstacles you face.

    E. If a solution doesn't solve your problem, look at the problem again.

    F. The people who are best at overcoming success obstacles are very well informed.

    G. Well-informed persons must get information from many different news resources.

  • 24、Maybe you’re depressed because you didn’t sleep well. Or you feel stuck when you read an email with some bad news that prevented your enthusiastic imagination. Whatever the case may be, you tell yourself working now is in vain (徒劳的), because you couldn’t possibly come up with anything inventive in this mood.

Several studies in psychology have shown that negative emotions narrow our vision and limit our thinking. However, positive emotions can improve creativity because they broaden our way of thinking by encouraging us to try new things or look at situations differently.

Creativity is the ability to produce and carry out both new and useful ideas. Creativity can result from a person’s own creative ideas and observations, or it can appear as a response to a direct assignment or problem as well.

Both positive and negative moods can lead to two different kinds of creativity that benefit different tasks. Research shows that the key factor influencing our creativity is not our mood itself, but the strength of our feelings and the motivation (动机) behind our work. For example, anger or anxiety can help us to focus our attention on producing effective results. Great excitement or joy, on the other hand, can encourage an instant at which the solution to a problem becomes clear all of a sudden. In fact, one study even finds that while we’re 20 percent more likely to have creative abilities to understand mixed situations when we’re feeling good, people in a negative mood perform better when the quality of solutions—not quantity—matters most.

But of course, we are rarely entirely happy or entirely sad. More often, we experience mixed emotions. In psychology, these strong emotions whether they are positive or negative, lead to greater creative actions.

It comes as no surprise then that highly creative people tend to be very familiar with their emotions. They report experiencing very strong emotions more frequently than less creative people and are more willing to experience those emotions.

【1】What is the author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph?

A.To expect us to be creative.

B.To show the importance of creativity.

C.To tell us negative emotions exist everywhere.

D.To clarify how moods influence your creativity.

【2】What is the attitude of the author towards negative emotions?

    A.Supportive.

    B.Critical.

    C.Doubtful.

    D.Objective.

【3】What can be learned in the passage?

A.We should always try to keep ourselves in good mood.

B.People feel either very happy or very sad most of the time.

C.Strong emotions play an important role in creativity.

D.Creativity only results from creative ideas and observations.

【4】According to the passage, what should you do to get more creative?

    A.Avoid negative moods totally.

B.Face up to inner feelings positively.

    C.Try out new things cautiously.

    D.Understand mixed situations clearly.

四、书面表达 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

It was a cold night, and there was ice in Dad’s beard (胡须) when he came back in. “Come on, Elizabeth,” he said. “Put on your coat. It’s cold out.”

I was sad. Not only wasn’t I getting the dress I wanted because there was not enough money; now Dad was dragging (硬拽) me out into the cold.

Outside, I became even sadder. There in front of the woodshed (柴棚), was our truck.

“Dad, what are we doing?” I asked.

“We need to load (装载) wood onto the truck,” Dad said.

I unwillingly started loading wood- the wood we’d spent all summer cutting into blocks.

“Have you been by Mrs. Clark’s lately?” he asked.

Mrs. Clark lived about two miles down the road from us. Her husband had passed away the year before, leaving her with three children to raise on her own.

    “Yeah,” I said. “Why?”

“I rode by just today,” Dad said. “Little Jake was out digging around in the woodpile, trying to find a few chips. They’re out of wood, Elizabeth.”

That was all he said, and we loaded the truck high with wood. Dad then went to the smokehouse and took down some meat, telling me to go load it. He returned to the truck carrying a bag of flour (面粉) over his right shoulder and a smaller bag of something in his left hand.

“What’s in the little bag?” I asked.

“Shoes. They’re out of shoes. I got the children a little candy too.”

Then Dad explained that he and Mom had saved enough money to buy me a dress. Yesterday, when he saw little Jake, Dad knew what he had to do. “I spent that money on some shoes and a little candy for those children. I hope you understand,” he said.

We rode the two miles to the Clarks’ place in silence. I tried to think about what Dad was doing. We did have a big woodpile, meat and flour, so we could spare that, but I knew we didn’t have any money. Mrs. Clark had closer neighbors than us. Why was it our business?

    注意:1.续写词数应为150左右。

    2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

    Paragraph 1:

We unloaded the wood behind the Clarks’ house and knocked on the door.
