21、Are you suffering from FOMO—that is, Fear Of Missing Out? Research shows that a growing number of young people are, with worrying reasons for their sleep and schoolwork.
【1】 You aren’t able to do your best unless you sleep well. Most experts agree that the optimum(最适宜)number of hours is eight, and this has been accepted as common sense for as long as I can remember. However, I was young once and know most of you get much less sleep than that.
I read an interesting article in a teachers’ magazine recently. 【2】 Worryingly, the results showed that teenagers are facing a new problem. They may go to bed and get up at appropriate times, but a growing number are waking up in the middle of the night, not to use the bathroom or have a snack, but because of FOMO.
According to the article, the number of students waking up during the night to check social media is growing. Afraid of missing a comment or opportunity to take part in a chat, teenagers are waking at all times of the night, going online and getting involved. 【3】
Experts are worried about this growing trend and the report reveals some worrying statistics: 23% of 12-to 15-year-olds wake up nearly every night to use social media. 【4】 One in third of the students are constantly tired and unable to function to their full capacity.
So I’d like to ask you to be responsible when it comes to social media. Switch off your devices at night. The world won’t end and your social media will be waiting to greet you in the morning! 【5】.
A.But things are getting out of hand.
B.They did a study of 848 students in Wales.
C.Another 15% wake up at night once a week for the same reason.
D.I give you my word that you won’t have missed anything important.
E.All happens when they should be sound asleep.
F.FOMO is the fear that everyone else is having more fun and more excitement than you.
G.Everybody knows how important it is for students to get a good night’s sleep every night
22、These days' experience, like many other things, are becoming increasingly expensive. One has to get to pay a lot to get, even an ordinary one.
Not long ago, I wanted to invite my friends to a lunch. What we really need was a good and a quiet place for a talk, not a big meal. So I chose one and told my friends to go there.
After I ordered, I was asked whether I would eat a 100 yuan or 200 yuan lunch, I said, "200 yuan." I didn't realize until I was asked to pay after lunch, that "200 yuan" means "200 yuan for person each."
There were five people that day, and all of us were surprises by the 200 yuan meal. The bill came at last: it was 1260, 1000 for the five of us, plus the money for drinks, fruits and air conditioning. I paid the bill without a word.
What could I say? It was not their fault. It was my own fault that made me pay the largest bill in my life.
However, it was not so bad: we had a good lunch and at a quiet place. Besides, the experience will help in my later years.
To support my idea, I have developed my own way of thinking about the price: 200 yuan for the lunch and 1260 for the experience. This paid experience has made me ten times wiser.

24、 Most people would describe a dollar millionaire as rich, yet many millionaires would disagree. They do not compare themselves with teachers or shop assistants but with the other parents at their children's private schools. To count the number of rich people in the world, however, an arbitrary cut-off point is needed, and $1 million is as good as any. Capgemini defines anyone with investable property of $ l million or more as a “high-net-worth individual”. By this measure the planet has about 10 million millionaires. According to Capgemini and Merrill Lynch, a bank Credit Suisse, another bank, uses a less strict definition: a millionaire is anyone whose net assets exceed $1 million. That includes everything: a home, an art collection, even the value of an as-yet-inaccessible pension. The Credit Suisse "Global Wealth Report" estimates that there were 24.2 million such people in 2015, about 0.5% of the world's adult population. By this measure, there are more millionaires than there are Australians. They control $69.2 trillion in property, more than a third of the global total.
How did these people grow rich? Mostly through their own efforts. Only 16% inherited their stash. The most common way to get rich is to start a business: nearly half (47%) of the world's wealthy people are entrepreneurs.
You do not have to be a genius to build a million-dollar business, but it helps if you are intelligent and extremely hard-working. In their book “The Millionaire Next Door”, Thomas Stanley observed that a typical American millionaire is surprisingly ordinary. He does not live in the fanciest part of town — why waste money that you can invest? And his tastes are so plain that you can barely tell him apart from his neighbours. He buys $40 shoes, and his car of choice is a Ford.
Another 23% of the world's millionaires got rich through paid work, estimates Capgemini. A few vault easily over the million-dollar bar. Gregory Maffei, the boss of Liberty Media, earned $87,095.882 in 2010. The median pay for chief executives at the 456 largest publicly quoted firms in America was $7.23 million, according to the Hay Group, a consultancy. But the vast majority are skilled professionals or managers who have been careful with their money. An dentist in America makes about $200,000 a year. He may leave medical school heavily in debt, but after a lifetime of earning, saving and investing he can probably amass $1 million.

26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Throughout my growth, I would ask my dad questions and he told me the answers. Is there really a man in the moon? How do sailboats work? I understood one thing about my dad: he knew everything. My dad was a hero, Mr. Know-it-all.
In my teen years, he taught me things I’d need to know to survive in the real world: How to check your car tire’s pressure. The correct knife to use to cut a watermelon. When I moved out on my own, I called him at least once a week, usually when I needed to know how to fix something in my apartment: the toilet, the air -conditioning, the wall, when I threw a shoe at a terrifying spider. He seemed to have every piece of information I exactly needed.
I don’t know when it happened, I needed him less. Our conversations evolved into six words. Nothing more. Me:“Hi, Dad.”Him:“Hi, sweets. Here’s Mom.”Because of her, I still needed—What’s your chicken soup recipe? Do I need to call the doctor for my daughter’s fever? Can you read this draft of my novel?
I loved my dad of course, but I wondered at times if maybe he had already shared everything I needed to know. I knew all his random jobs. I knew about the apple orchard (果园), the summer at the manufacturing plant that burned his hand, and even the restaurant, where he learned how to make the best omelet (煎蛋卷). Maybe, after knowing a man for 40 years, there’s nothing left to say.
What’s more, I relied mostly on my husband to solve more technical and complicated problems such as water heaters and insect removal. For everything else, we had Google.
Then, this past summer, my husband, our four kids and I moved in with my parents for three weeks while our own house was being decorated.

2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
