26、Staying hydrated (含水的) is one of the most basic ways we can take care of our bodies. 【1】. It supports key aspects of our functions. There are lots of simple ways to motivate ourselves to keep drinking water and boost our mental and physical well-being.
Live Science, a digital platform offering interesting science news, says that a large percentage of people are chronically(长期地) dehydrated. 【2】. And most of them might not even be aware they are dehydrated.
【3】. In general, 2.7 liters of fluids for women and 3.7 liters of fluids for men are recommended. About 20% of our fluid intake comes from the foods we consume and the rest should be from drinking beverages.
So how do we get on track with our water drinking? 【4】. Some people find it helpful to set reminders on their phones or on their daily to do lists, tracking and marking each cup of water they drink. Others feel like they need outside motivation.
There’s no need to make things difficult. In fact, the opposite is true — trying to make things as easy and convenient as possible can work wonders. Leaving water bottles in key areas around the house, for example, can help as visual reminders. 【5】. For example, making sure to drink a cup of water before every meal, before brushing teeth and before leaving the house can add lots of much needed fluids into our bodies!
A.Eight cups of water is recommended
B.It is vital that humans consume water

27、For thousands of years, the most important two buildings in any British village have been the church and the pub. Traditionally, the church and the pub are at the heart of any village or town, where the people gather together to socialize and exchange news.
As a result, British pubs are often old and well preserved. Many of them have become historic sites. The most famous example is the pub in the city of Nottingham called “The Old Trip to Jerusalem”, which dates back to the year 1189 AD and is probably the oldest pub in England.
However, British pubs are not just for kings and queens; they welcome people from all classes and parts of society. On a cold night, the pub’s landlord or landlady can always find a warm place for you by the fire. There is always honest and hearty food and plenty of drink available at an affordable price.
That’s how things used to be. Things are beginning to change. It is said that the credit crunch(信贷紧缩) is causing 39 British pubs a week to go out of business. People do not have enough spare money to spend on beer. Recently, the UK government banned smoking in all pubs, and that may also have affected the number of customers going to pubs.
This decline is happening despite the fact that in 2005 the UK government started to allow pubs to stay open after 1l pm. Previously, with 1l pm as closing time, customers would have to drink quite quickly, meaning they sometimes got more drunk than they would if allowed to drink slowly. The British habit of drinking a lot very quickly is known as “binge drinking”, and it causes long-term health problems for people and problems with violent crime for communities.
In order to save their businesses, pubs are trying to change with the market. British pubs now offer something for everyone. A lot of pubs used to be “Working Men’s Clubs”, meaning that women could not usually enter. Today, however, women can freely enter 99% of pubs without experiencing any problems. Perhaps things are changing for the better after all.
【1】 The passage mainly tells us something about ______.
A. the importance of British pubs
B. the decline of British pubs
C. the long history of British pubs
D. the past and present of British pubs
【2】 Which may not be the cause of the decline of British pubs?
A. The present closing time.
B. The ban of smoking.
C. The lack of enough spare money.
D. The credit crunch.
【3】We can infer from the passage that ______.
A. binge drinking means drinking less beer
B. closing the pubs early will reduce social problems
C. British people used to like drinking slowly
D. British government aims to discourage people from binge drinking
【4】 We can see from the last paragraph that the author _______.
A. holds an optimistic attitude towards the British pubs
B. thinks that British pubs should offer everything you need
C. thinks that women in the pubs will cause less social problems
D. is against the admission of too many women to the pubs
28、Should we allow modern buildings to be built next to older buildings in a historic area of a city? In order to answer this question, we must first examine whether people really want to preserve the historic feel of an area. Not all historical buildings are attractive. However, there may be other reasons—for example, economic reasons—why they should be preserved. So, let us assume that historical buildings are both attractive and important to the majority of people. What should we do then if a new building is needed?
In my view, new architectural styles can exist perfectly well alongside an older style. Indeed, there are many examples in my own hometown where modern designs have been placed very successfully next to old buildings. As long as the building in question is pleasing and does not dominate(影响)its surroundings too much, it often improves the attractiveness of the area.
It is true that there are examples of new buildings which have spoilt the area they are in, but the same can be said of some old buildings too. Yet people still speak against new buildings in historic areas. I think this is simply because people are naturally conservative (保守的) and do not like change.
Although we have to respect people’s feelings as fellow users of the buildings, I believe that it is the duty of the architect and planner to move things forward. If we always reproduced what was there before, we would all still be living in caves. Thus, I would argue against copying previous architectural styles and choose something fresh and different, even though that might be the more risky choice.
【1】What does the author say about historical buildings in the first paragraph?
A.Some of them are not attractive.
B.Most of them are too expensive to preserve.
C.They are more pleasing than modern buildings.
D.They have nothing to do with the historic feel of an area.
【2】Which of the following is true according to the author?
A.We should reproduce the same old buildings.
B.Buildings should not dominate their surroundings.
C.Some old buildings have spoilt the area they are in.
D.No one understands why people speak against new buildings.
【3】According to the last paragraph, the author probably wants the architect and planner to________.
A.destroy old buildings
B.put things in a different place
C.respect people’s feelings for historical buildings
D.choose new architectural styles
【4】What is the main purpose of the passage?
A.To explain why people dislike change.
B.To argue that modern buildings can be built in historic areas.
C.To warn that we could end up living in caves.
D.To admit how new buildings have ruined their surroundings.

I was an impatient mother and frustration always kept me from enjoying life, until some strange insects came to my family.
It was Friday. We were having friends over for dinner, but Mike had to stay late at work. I was now on my own to get everything ready for the night. I could feel my frustration increasing as I drove to pick up Haydn and Michael from school. I rushed them into the car and told them that we were making a few stops before heading home, and that they needed to help me tidy the house. Both of them started complaining immediately. I turned and gave them fair warning that I was not in the mood to listen. For the next hour, I dragged the boys from one place to the next…
Just as we finished our last task, the boys reminded me that we needed to stop at the pet store to pick up crickets for their lizards. Fifteen minutes later, I pulled into the driveway with only forty-five minutes left to unpack the car, clean the house, and set the table before my guests arrived. How would I make it?
I started barking orders at the boys, but they were focused on pouring the crickets from the plastic bag into the top of their little cricket container. I just let off steam and yelled at them to hurry up.
I don’t really know how it happened, but the next time I looked up, one hundred crickets were jumping all over my kitchen…
My frustration exploded. I could feel myself about to start yelling in a way I rarely do. I watched my two sweet boys try anxiously to chase the crickets, screaming with laughter. Strangely, I felt something different.
In that split second, I realized I had two choices. Could I continue feeling annoyed and angry, or could I let go and enjoy this silly moment?
注意:1. 续写词数应为 150 左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I jumped off the chair and started chasing crickets with my boys.
