26、In April this year.China successfully launched(发射)the Tiangong space station. It is expected to be ready next year in 2022. However. a long queue of experiments from around the world are already in place for flight. CMSA (China Manned Space Agency) has approved a plan of more than 1.000-such experiments. several of which have already been launched. The research topics range from studying dark matter to cancer research and studying disease-producing matter.
Before Tiangong was launched. the ISS (International Space Station) was the only space laboratory in place. The addition of Tiangong has been welcomed by several scientists and researchers from across the world.
Julie Robinson. chief scientist for human exploration and operations at NASA Headquarters. said."Increased scientific access to space is of scientific benefit globally. no matter who builds and operates platforms."
The views of Agnieszka Pollo. a scientist at the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Warsaw. were similar."We need more space stations. because one space station is definitely not enough."
Since its launch in 1998. the ISS provided equipment to conduct over 3.000 experiments to scientists from different countries. However. China was not allowed to conduct any such experiment due to a US rule which forbids NASA from cooperating(合作) with China.
On the other hand. Tiangong is welcoming experiments from all countries. including the US. Reportedly. CMSA selected nine experiments to be carried out on Tiangong in June 2019. These nine experiments were in addition to a thousand other experiments that China has approved to go up to the space station. These will include 23 organizations from 17 nations.

27、There was a time when a trip to the supermarket in the United States often ended with a seemingly simple question from the cashier: “Paper or plastic?” Well, which type of bag would you choose?
While all types of bags have some influence on the environment, it has long been supposed that paper bags are kinder. They are made from a renewable source, break down easily, burn without giving off thick smoke and can be recycled. However, the producing process behind paper bags uses more energy than that of plastic ones. How can this be true?
Studies show that paper bag production requires four times as much energy as plastic bag production. And the amount of water used to make them is twenty times higher. Besides, the influence on forests is very serious. It takes about fourteen million trees to produce ten billion paper bags, which happens to be the number of bags used in the United States yearly. In terms of recycling, the idea that paper bags are more environment-friendly than plastic ones can be quickly discarded. Research shows it requires about 98% less energy to recycle plastic than it does paper.
Even though paper bags might be more harmful than plastic ones, plastic still seems to be considered by governments as the more harmful of the two. In Ireland, for example, a tax has been introduced to discourage the use of plastic bags. People have to pay 22 cents for every plastic bag, and as a result, their use has dropped quickly.
There’s no doubt that it makes more sense to reuse these bags. However, we don’t seem to be doing that at present. That may be because they fall apart quickly. If so, cloth bags are a better choice, but still, their production also has a bad influence on the environment. So what to do? How should we answer the question of “Paper or plastic?” It seems that we first need to ask ourselves one more general question: “What can I do to help the environment?”

28、To this paper-cutting artist, Shi Qinling, scissors are like what brushes are to painters, or what pens are to writers. Always having a pair of scissors on her also allows her to create art whenever inspiration hits. “Some people like to pen their feelings in diaries. I prefer to cut them out,” says the 35-year-old, who is currently working at the Fenglin community cultural activity center in Shanghai.
Shi developed an interest in handicraft when she was a child who often found herself alone at home. Out of boredom, she would play with paper, folding and cutting them into different shapes. This interest later developed into a passion, one that she decided to pursue by majoring in arts and crafts design during her time in university.
After graduation, however, she found herself working at a ship design company as she was unsure about what she wanted to do with her future. About a year later, the Shanghai Arts and Crafts Research Institute offered her a position in their paper-cutting department. Realizing that she still had a love for the craft, she switched her career.
In 2010, she started learning paper-cutting from Xi Xiaoqin, the national inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage for paper-cutting. Three years later, one of her works, The Fighting Fish, won third place at the Baihua Cup, a competition for Chinese arts and crafts. Six years later, Shi was named a Shanghai paper-cutting inheritor and become the city’s “youngest inheritor” of the paper-cutting heritage.

A.Scissors are important for her for self-protection.
B.Scissors are significant for her for artistic expression.

29、 Thinking of ways to reduce the impact of pollution is on everyone's minds. This is how 14-year-old Vinisha Umashankar, a student of SKP Vanitha International School in Tamil Nadu, is doing her part to save the planet.
In October 2018, Vinisha saw an ironing worker throw a few pieces of hot charcoal on the pathway and then pour water on it. When asked why he was doing that, he explained that he was cooling the hot charcoal before he could throw it into the dustbin.
On reaching home, she did a little quick research on the Internet and learnt that to make 1kg of charcoal, 12 fully-grown trees need to be cut down. Apart from that, burning of coal emits harmful gases like carbon monoxide. That is when she started to think of alternative sources of heat to iron clothes, and the first idea that popped into her mind was solar energy. While Vinisha knew that solar energy can be harnessed (利用)to generate power, she did not know how. So she referred to college-level Physics books.
By September 2019, Vinisha had finished working on the technical paper. Impressed with her work, her father submitted her paper to different competitions and soon it was picked up by a group of engineers at the National Innovation Foundation, Ahmedabad, who helped make the prototype (雏形).The ironing cart has solar panels as the roof, which is connected to 100ah battery. Once the battery is fully charged it will power the steam iron box for six hours. Apart from that, the cart has USB ports which can be used to charge mobile phones, too.
The approximate cost of this ironing cart is yet to be determined, and for the future, Vinisha hopes to use her prize money to deploy (配置)a few ironing carts in her hometown and get feedback from the ironing workers.
【1】Which of the following best describes Vinisha?
A.Creative.
B.Intelligent.
C.Determined.
D.Energetic.
【2】What did Vinisha's father do to help her?
A.He made the prototype of the solar ironing cart.
B.He wrote the technical paper of the solar ironing cart.
C.He handed in her technical paper to various contests.
D.He looked for renewable energy to iron clothes.
【3】What can we know about Vinisha's solar ironing cart?
A.It has low production costs.
B.It can work a whole day continuously.
C.It has a 100ah battery on the roof.
D.It can help reduce the use of charcoal.
