二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、It was a winter morning, just a couple of weeks before Christmas 2005. While most people were warming up their cars, Trevor, my husband, had to get up early to ride his bike four kilometers away from home to work. On arrival, he parked his bike outside the back door as he usually does. After putting in 10 hours of labor, he returned to find his bike gone.

The bike, a black Kona 18 speed, was our only transport. Trevor used it to get to work, putting in 60-hour weeks to support his young family. And the bike was also used to get groceries(食品杂货),saving us from having to walk long distances from where we live.

I was so sad that someone would steal our bike that I wrote to the newspaper and told them our story. Shortly after that, several people in our area offered to help. One wonderful stranger even bought a bike, then called my husband to pick it up. Once again my husband had a way to get to and from his job. It really is an honor that a complete stranger would go out of their way for someone they have never met before.

People say that a smile can be passed from one person to another, but acts of kindness from strangers are even more so. This experience has had a spreading effect in our lives because it strengthened our faith in humanity(人性)as a whole. And it has influenced us to be more mindful of ways we, too, can share with others. No matter how big or how small, an act of kindness shows that someone cares. And the results can be everlasting.

【1】Why was the bike so important to the couple?

    A. The man’s job was bike racing.

    B. It was their only possession.

    C. It was a nice Kona 18 speed.

    D. They used it for work and daily life.

【2】We can infer from the text that ____________.

    A. the couple worked 60 hours a week.

    B. people were busy before Christmas

    C. the stranger brought over the bike

    D. life was hard for the young family.

【3】How did people get to know the couple’s problem?

    A. From radio broadcasts.   B. From a newspaper.

    C. From TV news. D. From a stranger.

【4】What do the couple learn from their experience?

    A. Strangers are usually of little help.

    B. One should take care of their bike.

    C. News reports make people famous.

    D. An act of kindness can mean a lot.

  • 27、China’s disability-related expense at all levels has increased year by year. Last year saw the completion of the National Ice Sports Arena for People With Impairments in light of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. The Games officially opened on March 4, marking not only a great event for the Olympic family, but also the advancement of China’s path for developing the cause of people with disabilities.

Protection of those differently abled in employment, social security, public facilities, and education keeps improving in laws and regulations ensuring the rights and interests of persons with disabilities.

China has 85 million people with disabilities, who need more attention and help—from government and public alike. The possibility of people with disabilities falling back to poverty is high; the total amount of public services for people with physical impairments is not enough and their distribution remains uneven; their diverse needs, such as education, medical services, and recovery, are not adequately met; discrimination, too, still occurs; less developed and rural areas are not suitable for them.

According to the arrangements for the protection and development of people with disabilities during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period issued in July 2021, basic systems providing multi-level social security will be in place by 2025 to ensure the livelihood of this social group continues to improve. By 2035, the differently abled will live a richer material and cultural life, and the gap between them and the average national level will have been remarkably narrowed.

To achieve these goals, the Chinese Government is revising regulations on the employment of those differently abled, aiming to help them live better and more fulfilled lives through their work. In addition, the country is accelerating the upgrading of the social security system, so that the differently abled with unstable income will be included in government aid under China’s social safety net program.

【1】What is paragraph 3 mainly about?

A.The problems people with disabilities meet.

B.The uneven distribution of medical services.

C.The poverty level of people with disabilities.

D.The growing attention to the differently abled.

【2】What can people with disabilities benefit from the 14th Five-Year Plan?

    A.Improving livelihood.

    B.Basic commercial security.

    C.The narrowed gap.

    D.A materially satisfying life.

【3】Which can best replace the underlined word “accelerating” in the last paragraph?

    A.Quickening.

    B.Receiving.

    C.Considering.

    D.Assessing.

【4】What is the author’s attitude towards the growing disability-related expense?

    A.Critical.

    B.Favorable.

    C.Objective.

    D.Uninterested.

  • 28、From soldier to wildlife photographer, the 67-year-old Shandong Province native, Ge Yuxiu, has lived in Qinghai Province for 51 years. For almost half that time, he has been on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, where he has devoted his life to photographing and protecting wild animals.

Ge’s love for photography grew after his photo of soldiers reading news written on a blackboard was published in Qinghai Daily in 1979. He probably would never have turned to photographing wild animals without a visit to Bird Island in Qinghai Lake in 1995. “I became addicted to the bird kingdom,” Ge said, adding that he has so far visited the island more than 200 times to take photos.

In late 1997, Ge was on his way to the island to take photos of swans when he saw seven yellowish-brown animals running across the grass-lands, in a line. On hearing one of his companions shouting “Przewalski’s gazelle”, he took out his camera and took photos of them. He was later told by wildlife reservation experts that he had shot the world ‘s first image of Przewalski’s gazelle (普氏原羚), a relatively small, slender antelope unique to China.

“I was so excited to hear that,” he said. His excitement, however, soon gave way to anxiety after he learned about the animal’s endangered situation. Only found around Qinghai Lake, there were just 300 of them surviving in the wild at the time. The incident became a turning point in Ge ‘s photography career, as he decided to devote his efforts to saving the gazelle and other endangered animals.

From then on, he often spent time in the wild observing the gazelle and regularly visited wildlife reservation experts in Qinghai and places much farther away. Through his photos, Ge publicly called on the government, research institutions and the public to protect Przewalski’s gazelle. His continued efforts led to at least eight of his proposals reaching Qinghai provincial authorities, and a reserve and a separate station especially for the reservation of the antelope were established in December 2007 and September 2009.

Thanks to joint efforts, the population of Przewalski’s gazelle has now increased to about 2,700.

【1】When did Ge take up wildlife protection?

    A.In 1979.

    B.In 1995.

    C.In 1997.

    D.In 2007.

【2】Why did he feel excited after photographing the Przewalski’s gazelles?

A.He learnt the photo was valuable.

    B.He found they were endangered.

C.He knew that they were rare.

    D.He realized they were unique.

【3】Which of the following words can best describe Ge?

    A.Creative and energetic.

    B.Devoted and determined.

    C.Calm and generous.

    D.Honest and positive.

【4】What can be the best title for the text?

    A.A Wildlife Photographer

    B.A Retired Soldier

    C.A Learned Researcher

    D.A Wildlife Guardian

  • 29、   The creativity of some of the most successful brands makes them recognizable and memorable. However, the origins of them are more interesting than you might think.

    Rolex, the whisper of success

According to Hans Wilsdorf, founder of the exclusive watch, he tried everything to give his new product a proper name. Wilsdorf was looking for something short that could be easily pronounced. It also had to look good on the watch's surface.

After combining all the letters in thousands of ways and coming up with a hundred names, none seemed powerful enough. But a trip on a horse-drawn carriage changed it, because a "genius," as he called it, whispered the word "Rolex" into his ear.

Zara, taking inspiration from a movie

When Amancio Ortega wanted to name his clothing business, he called it "Zorba," like the 1964 movie, Zorba The Greek, as he was a big fan of Anthony Quinn.

However, shortly before the opening in 1975, he realized that his store was pretty close to a bar named, "Zorba." Since it would be very confusing to the customers to have 2 businesses with the same name in such a small distance, Ortega decided to add an "a" and remove the "b" creating the name of one of the most recognizable Spanish brands in the world.

    Häagen-Dazs, Danish?...pride

This ice cream went a long way to satisfy the tastes of the American public. Its creator, Reuben Mattus, was actually a Jewish immigrant from Poland who lived in the United States.

Naming his ice cream Häagen-Dazs, he fulfilled a double purpose. Mattus wanted to honor Denmark, the only country that defended Jewish people during World War II, so he used Danish spelling in the name of his brand. He also wanted to add a bit of exoticism (异国情调), since it was ice cream of the highest quality. He was sure the name would give his product a more distinguished image.

1How did Hans Wilsdorf come up with Rolex?

A.He was struck by his inspiration. B.A man called Genius told him.

C.He combined all the letters in many ways. D.The horse carriage helped him.

2What do we learn from the passage?

A.Anthony Quinn created the name of Zara.

B.The creation of Zara is based on Zorba.

    C.Häagen-Dazs is a Danish brand.

D.Reuben used Danish spelling in Häagen-Dazs only to honor Denmark.

3What do the names of the three brands have in common?

A.Their origins are interesting but confusing.

B.They used to have different names.

C.They are easy to recognize and memorize.

D.They came from foreign languages originally.

五、书面表达 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 32、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

The class was over. Karl was delighted that he had created a very satisfying work. So he walked to the back of the classroom to put his work away carefully. There, lying on the carpet in front of the classroom bookcase, was a golden ticket! Karl picked it up. His heart beat faster when he saw that the name line was blank(空白的). He couldn't believe his luck!

The boys and girls in Karl's class could earn golden tickets by doing well in their study or by being extra helpful or kind. Once a week their teacher drew a ticket out of a box on her desk and let the winner choose a prize.

Today was the golden ticket drawing, and here was another ticket, just for him!   Karl looked around. No one else was near the ticket. All his classmates were at their desks, laughing and talking with each other. Miss Evans was engaged in grading the papers collected earlier in the morning.

Karl decided to write his name on the blank line. Then he could put it into the prize box with the six tickets he'd already earned. With so many chances, one of his tickets would most probably be picked! Then he could choose the pink toy pig for his sister's birthday, just like he had been hoping.

He smiled and reached for the pencil in his pocket. Suddenly his fingers stopped. There was a strange feeling in his chest, and it wasn't his heartbeat. "Finders are keepers, right?", he wondered. He looked out of the window and tried to figure it out. On the one hand, he did find the ticket, but he hadn't earned it. Somebody must have lost it. But on the other hand, he did need this extra ticket for his great plan!

    Paragraph l:

Karl looked at the blank name line for a moment.
