    Eat Less Meat, Please!

    There are many ways to save the Earth. We can use less water, plant more trees, d1 less and bike more. Now, some scientists have put forward one more way to avoid dangerous climate change—eat less meat.

    Their new research finds farm animals like caws and pigs p2 much more greenhouse gases than we thought. W3 action, the influence will become far worse as the world population continues to grow. And, as global income rises, more people will afford and eat meat-rich diets.

    One of the researchers is Johan Rockstrom. He is a professor from Germany. “Feeding a world population of ten billion is p4, but only if we change how we eat,” the scientist said. “Greening food production creating up our planet—this is what is on the menu today.”

    A U.N. report also warns that eating less meat and dairy is important. The current trends, however, are in the o5 direction. Rockstrom calculated that on average we needed to eat 75 percent less beef, 90 percent less pork and half the number of eggs. Education, taxes and changes to school and workplace menus can help achieve this goal.

    In some countries, people have become more aware of the importance of changing their diets. In the Netherlands, young people have been eating less meat. “We know food choices are very personal. That behavior change can be difficult” said Rockstrom. “But the evidence is how clear. We need to change our d6 if we want to save our planet.”
