六、阅读理解 (共3题,共 15分)
  • 21、Jia Wei, a middle school student from Jilin, is feeling down these days. “From the War between Russia and Ukraine to another rise in COVID-19 cases, pieces of bad news keep coming on one after another,” Jia said. “I feel confused, sad and scared.”

Jia’s example shows how people can be affected by traumatic (不幸的) events, even when events didn’t directly happen to them.

The situation can get worse if they see frequent (频繁的) media reports. A study shows that teenagers who often see information on unlucky events are 1.45 times more likely to have stress (压力) than those who seldom do so. If teenagers often see pictures and videos of the damage (破坏), they are 1.84 times more likely to feel unhappy. So how can we deal with stress after upsetting news? Psychologist (心理学家) Li Songwei, has something to say.

Try to avoid pictures or videos that make you feel uncomfortable. Try to get to know about what happens by reading text or talking with people. At the same time, we need to understand that bad things happen. Uncertainty (不确定性) and imperfection are parts of the world. Only by facing it can we deal with it better.

If you can’t help checking your phones, learn about time management (管 理). For example, take half an hour to read news and then put your phone away. Focus on things like exercise and studying so that you won’t be affected by negative (负面的) feelings for too long.

【1】According to the study, what makes stress worse for students?

    A.Getting more disaster-related information.

    B.Taking more airplane flights.

    C.Experiencing traumatic events.

    D.Having less sleep.

【2】According to Li, what can we do about our bad feelings?

    A.Stop talking to other people.

B.Try to accept the uncertainties and problems of the world.

C.Stay away from people who often read news.

D.Learn to face your problems alone.

【3】What can we do to redirect (转移) our attention, according to Li?

A.Spend more time learning about the news.

    B.Use our phones to study.

C.Take classes to learn time management.

D.Put away our phones and do some exercise.
