二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Talking to someone on a train, bus, or subway can be risky yet exciting, as you never know when they're going to get off. Here are some useful tips.

Make eye contact. Making brief eye contact can show the person that you're interested and help you judge whether they are interested in you. 【1】 If they look away quickly or appear disinterested, it's probably best not to approach.

【2】 If the person looks at you once more, this is a good sign that they notice you and want to interact with you. When making eye contact, keep your facial expression light and friendly, rather than straight and serious.

Smile at them. If you are successful, smile at the person. A small but genuine smile makes you appear interested, friendly, and approachable. If the other person smiles back, you’re likely in luck in getting them to talk to you.

Use open body language. 【3】 Do this by keeping your arms uncrossed. Stand or sit up straight and show good posture (姿势).

【4】 Once you’ve read the other person to see if they’re interested in conversing (交谈), make a move. If you're far away, move closer. You should keep a comfortable distance where you can hear each other yet not feel awkward if the conversation doesn't work out. Find a seat near them, yet don't crowd them.

If they're standing, stand near enough to them to be able to speak with them, but don't get too close for comfort. If there's a seat next to them, ask, “May I sit here?" Try not to be nervous. Many people are just as excited to chat with new people as you are. If they engage, then keep it up! 【5】

    A.Notice how they respond.

B.Approach the person to start talking to them.

C.As you can see, your body language speaks for itself.

D.Try to make eye contact again after about 30 seconds.

E.Eye contact is the act of looking into someone's eyes.

F.Make a point to appear open, comfortable, and available.

G.You'll meet some people and perhaps even make some friends.

  • 22、Sleepwalking is a sleep disorder. Your child will rise from bed and walk or engage in other activities that they would normally do when they are awake. They eyes will be open but they will appear to be in a dream-like state, and will probably not answer when you talk to them, although they may carry out conversations. Sleepwalking can last a few seconds, a few minutes, or more.

Sleep walking can be an indication that certain parts of the brain may not be relaxing properly at bedtime. It can be caused by illness or fever, tiredness, stress or anxiety. It is thought to occur in the beginning, slow-wave stages of non-rapid eye movement sleep before dream sleep. It may be related to the lack of magnesium(镁), and it is very possible that hormonal (荷尔蒙) changes in body could cause it. Certainly a child is more likely to be a sleepwalker if one of his parents suffered, too.

Sleepwalking itself is not dangerous and is generally not a sign of any more worrying problems. But if your child sleepwalkers regularly, you have to take safety measures to make sure that he doesn’t hurt himself while sleepwalking. Make sure that any doors can’t be opened by a child, and lock doors to the cellar (地下室), kitchen and other dangerous places. Check each night before lights go out for sharp objects or, indeed, anything on the floor which your child could trip over or hurt himself on.

A child may sleepwalk once and never sleepwalk again. Others may sleepwalk once a month or so. Still others may sleepwalk almost nightly. If you are worried you should consult your doctor.

【1】During sleepwalking, a sleepwalker is likely to do all the following but_________.

    A. climb out of a window B. go down a flight of stairs

    C. wander in the yard   D. close his eyes

2What does the second paragraph mainly tell us?

    A. The concept of sleepwalking

    B. The causes of sleepwalking

    C. Some ways to help sleepwalking

    D. The behaviors during sleepwalking.

3Which of the following is true according to the passage?

    A. Sleepwalking itself is not dangerous.

    B. Children who sleepwalk may answer when you talk to them.

    C. If your child sleepwalks regularly, you can just leave him alone.

    D. Sleepwalking is related to the lack of sleep.

4It can be inferred from the passage that_______.

    A. Sleepwalking may be passed down in a family.

    B. Drugs that could cure sleepwalking have been developed.

    C. During a normal sleep, a person never opens his eyes.

    D. Most doctors consider sleepwalking as a serious problem.

  • 23、I realized that I spent far too much time on the Internet last year, for obvious reasons. I suspect Fm not alone. And just like magic, Suzanne Park’s Sunny Song Will Never Be Famous came across my desk, a story about a 17-year-old Korean American influencer who ends up in a digital detox (脱瘾) camp. My first reaction was to shrink, worried about how much of my social media self I would see in this book, and how much relative therapy (疗法) I would undoubtedly require as a result. But Sunny is such an amazing heroine that I was laughing out loud by Page 10.

Sunny is literally born an influencer. Thanks to a video, “Goggle Girl” becomes Internet famous. She keeps up the persona as she grows older, procuring almost 10,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel alone. But disaster strikes when she forgets to turn off the camera one afternoon during a live stream. This will result in Sunny’s dismissal from her L. A. private school— unless her parents send her to a digital detox camp, as per the principal’s request.

The customers in the camp are Internet addicts ranging from fantasy sports and gaming players to mean girl Internet celebrities. Sunny is forced to spend a month in the cornfields of Iowa among these celebrities with no digital devices. Except the burner phone she brings secretly in because she’s in the running for an influencer competition, and she actually has a shot! But the other competitor is the meanest girl in camp, who also happens to have ten times Sunny’s following.

The book is a total joy to read. I appreciate that Park does not approach social media as the enemy in this book, and for that reason I can enthusiastically recommend it to any young folks who are particularly web-savvy (精通的).Sunny reminds readers of the power of Internet fame, and the consequences if that power isn’t used wisely.

【1】How did the author feel when first seeing the book?

A.She felt amazed at its cover.

B.She felt concerned about its contents.

C.She felt confident of its style.

D.She felt upset about its plot.

【2】Which can best replace the underlined word “procuring” in paragraph 2?

    A.Postponing.

    B.Appreciating.

    C.Obtaining.

    D.Introducing.

【3】What can we learn about the camp from paragraph 3?

    A.People there are physically abused.

    B.Life there without digital products.

    C.It holds many competitions monthly.

D.It is specially designed for Internet celebrities.

【4】What’s the purpose of the text?

    A.To review a book.

    B.To introduce a great camp.

    C.To record an unforgettable experience.

D.To stress the advantage of social media.

  • 24、   Learning a new language can be tough, and there is no magical way to go about it. 1

Know your learning style. This is the single most important thing you need to know when starting to learn a language .2 You will need to figure out if you learn best through repetition, through writing down or listening to a native speaker.

Learn pronunciation.3 Just ask a Polish person how to pronounce the letters"cz". It will help to learn IPA, the International Phonetic Alphabet, as most dictionaries use it. Besides, the Foreign Service Institute offers free online language learning materials, which include audio recordings that help with learning pronunciation.

4 This is probably the most important part of the language besides the vocabulary. "Paul want Mary go store" may communicate an idea, but it is not at all correct English. If you do not pay attention to grammar, you can sound equally incomprehensible in another language.

Memorize 30 words and phrases each day. Within 90 days this means you will have memorized about 80% of the language. Memorization is half the battle and there are many different ways to memorize.

Practice the alphabet. Especially if you are learning a language which operates in a different alphabetical system, you will need to know what the letters look like and how they operate .

5 In doing so , your brain will have an easy path to remembering the letter and the sound that accompanies it .

    A. Pay attention to grammar.

    B. Start with the most common words.

    C. Therefore, there are really no secrets or shortcuts.

    D. Try associating images with each letter and sound.

    E. Everyone learns differently, especially when it comes to language.

    F. Nevertheless, with certain techniques you will be fluent in no time.

    G. Even if a language has the same alphabet as yours, the pronunciation is not always the same.
