26、 What comes to mind when you think of the word “museum”? Do you picture paintings hanging on a wall? Quiet halls filled full of relics from the past? Or do you think of airplanes suspended from the ceiling? Perhaps science experiments come to mind. 【1】
There are many different types of museums around the world. Each one might display certain types of exhibits based on subject matter.
【2】 One of the most famous is the Louvre in Paris, France. It’s the home of the Mona Lisa. Paintings are not the only forms of art that museums put on display. They usually contain all sorts of art, from sculptures to fabric art. Many cities now have children’s museums. What do they display there? 【3】These give kids a chance to explore their imaginations by interacting with exhibits on a personal level. Science and space museums can take children on a trip all around and even beyond Earth. Do you wonder about the world around you or what’s “out there”? 【4】And there are good old-fashioned history museums. It can be so great to see the original documents and artifacts that shaped history!
【5】 Have you ever been to a zoo or botanical gardens? These are museums with living exhibits that are right out in the open instead of hanging on a wall or sitting behind glass.
Do you think you might want to work in a museum someday? It can be fun to work around interesting items and show the public how important they are. There are many fun and fascinating careers related to museums.
A.The designs of museums vary from place to place.
B.Not all museums are buildings, either.
C.They usually feature many hands-on activities.
D.What makes museums so important to cultural development?
E.Actually, all of these things and more are possible in museums.

28、This is my son Matthew's last night at home before college.I know that this is good news.I feel proud that Matthew will go to a great school.I know that this is finest hour. But looking at the suitcases on his bed sends me out of the room to a hidden corner where I can't stop crying.
Through the sorrow,I feel a rising embarrassment.”Pull yourself together!” I tell myself. There are parents sending their kids off to battle zones. How dare I feel so shocked and upset?
One of the great gifts of my life has been having my boys, Matthew and Johnowen.Through them,I have explored the mysterious, complicated bond between fathers and sons. As My wife and I raised them,I have discovered the love and loss between my father and me.After my parents' divorce,I spent weekends with my dad in Ohio.By the time Sunday came around,I was unable to enjoy the day's activities because I was already afraid of the goodbye of the evening.
Now,standing among Matthew’s accumulation of possessions,I realize it's me who has become a boy again. All my sadness and longing to hold on to things are back, sweeping over me as they did when I was a child.
His bed is tidy and spare. It already has the feel of aa guest bed.In my mind I replay wrapping him in his favorite blanket. That was our nightly routine until one evening he said,”Daddy,I don't think I need a blanket tonight.”I think of all the times we lay among the covers reading.I look at the bed and think of all the recent times I was annoyed at how late he was sleeping.I'll never have to worry about that again,I realize.
For his part,Matthew has been a rock.He is treating his leaving as just another day at the office. And I'm glad. After all, someone's got to be strong.I'm proud that he is charging into the first chapter of his adult life with such confidence.

29、Technology is likely to play a big part in reaching its climate goals in the future.
Fusion is the process that fires the sun. But some experts say it could someday power our homes. Fusion happens when the nuclei (核) of two atoms are subjected to extreme heat. This leads to the formation of a new larger atom and large amounts of energy. One problem is the process itself requires a large amount of energy. Developers of the technology haven’t yet performed a fusion reaction that releases more energy than it requires. In addition, running an electric power plant of fusion would require the resulting heat to be contained in an economical way.
Advanced nuclear plants would be smaller than today’s massive nuclear reactors. Experts say they could be used in rural areas and could take over for wind and solar power when the sun goes down or the wind dies. But advanced nuclear reactors are difficult and costly to build. Critics say they would also create more waste. And they would run on uranium (铀), which could make some advanced reactors more appealing to militants (激进分子) seeking materials to make weapons.
Currently, there are 15 direct air capture plants operating worldwide, getting CO directly from the air and puts the gas underground. The costs are currently high. But supporters say those costs will fall as the technology improves. They also say tax breaks for businesses could help the technology. But critics say offering large credits could actually lead to more plants continuing to burn fossil fuels.
Hydrogen (氢) can be mixed with natural gas to make a cleaner-burning fuel. This could power a fuel cell vehicle. Such a vehicle would release environmentally friendly water vapors.
So-called clean hydrogen can be produced using energy methods such as wind and solar. But those methods are more costly than “grey hydrogen”, which is made with fossil fuels. Geothermal power plants capture heat up to 370 degrees Celsius far below the earth’s surface. The heat creates steam that can turn turbines (涡轮机) to produce electricity. But the technology would need to greatly expand to become a major alternative to fossil fuels.
【1】How does the author develop the passage?

B.Nuclear fusion has been widely used in families.

C.Advanced Nuclear.
D.Fusion and Hydrogen.
【4】What is the best title for the text?

Living in a foreign country is fun but it isn’t always easy. There are many differences between cultures although some of these differences are unimportant. Some can 【1】 a lot of embarrassment. 32、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Before boarding the plane, we had had all schedualed. However, on discovering our family of five couldn’t sit together on our flight home, my husband and I went back and forth, trying out different combinations. Who would sit where in the two-up-front, three-in-the-back seating we’d been given?
We considered how we would board, carrying a 3-year-old son and five pieces of hand luggage with us, and taking care of our older son and daughter. Finally, we decided: my husband, up front with our older son; our daughter, younger son and me in the back — three seats in row 29.
We were the last to board. Our younger son was mentally disabled because of Down’s syndrome (唐氏综合征). Thankfully, he wouldn’t have to sit for longer than necessary in the plane. We settled our older son at the front and then slowly moved to the back of the plane. My husband searched through the already overstuffed overhead lockers (塞满的头顶储物柜), trying to find room for our bags. That’s when he noticed the problem with those seats. There weren’t three seats in row 29 at all. There was one in row 28 and two in row 29. “No matter,” I thought to myself.
However, it did matter. It turned out that our three seats were all singles. It was fine for my daughter, but what about my younger son? He was to sit behind me across the aisle (过道) — out of sight and out of reach. My heart sank. My breath was taken away. My mind and stomach churned (剧烈搅动). I called to the flight workers.
“I’m sorry,” I said, voice cracking. “I can’t fly like this.”
“Seats across the aisle are set next to each other,” said one, as if that would help me.
“But they’re not next to each other. One is behind the other, across the aisle. My son is only three. He is disabled. I can’t leave him by himself. He needs to be with me.”
注意:
