One of the most often asked and most controversially(有争议的) answered questions is "What should I do when I meet a blind person?" A quick Google search will turn up plenty of answers, which are quite different from each other. So, obviously, there is no general agreement on what to do when you meet a blind person.
There are no special rules or does and doesn't that can deal with this situation. There is only one principle(原则): Blind people are nothing more or less than people who happen to be blind. As such, it is our own job to take care of ourselves, and we are grateful to no one else for special care or leadership. For we think we are equal(平等的)to normal people.
The best thing to do is nothing. Don't suppose you know what we need. If we do need something, we'll politely let you know.
Forget everything you've heard about the blind even if you consider yourself to be an expert. Blind people have plenty to say about "experts". Especially, forget anything you've heard or read about "Ten Things to Do if You Meet a Blind Person". The advice will probably just cause more embarrassment(尴尬). More of it is made up by sighted people anyway and doesn't necessarily stand for the blind's view.
There is completely no way to second—guess the situation by imposing(强加)any preformed ideas. Even if you've known other blind people, don't think you know what to do with every one of them. The thing that often makes us angry is to hear "It's OK. My mother(sister, cousin, friend)is blind."
Blind people are as different from each other as any two people on this earth. There are no similarities among us that you can depend on. Even the degree of vision, hearing or touch that we use can be very different. Most blind people do have same degree of vision, and even the very few of us who are totally blind may use our touch and hearing very effectively.
【1】It can be inferred from the passage that the writer________.
A.is a blind person B.hears more clearly than others
C.never asks others for help D.thinks blind people need special care
【2】According to the passage, which of the following opinions may the writer disagree with?
A.Most blind people can take care of themselves.
B.Blind people aren't equal to sighted people.
C.Blind people generally dislike those thinking they understand the blind a lot.
D.Each person, blind or sighted, is different from anyone else.
【3】Which of the following might be the best title for the passage?
A.Never Help the Blind B.Try to Help the Blind
C.Not Every Help Is Good for the Blind D.Learn More about the Blind
25、 When you feel a sneeze or cough coming on, covering your mouth prevents the spread of germs(细菌). You probably knew that. But how to cover your mouth is very important. You might use tissues(纸巾), and put your used tissues into the bin. "If you don't have tissues, you should sneeze into your elbow, not your hand even if you are used to doing that. "The doctors advised. "If somebody sneezes into his hands, those germs will be passed on to other people, or other objects that people touch. "said Dr. Hill.
Germs are most commonly spread by sneezing and coughing. When they land on your hands, they are passed from hands to things like money, doorknobs(扶手), elevator buttons(电梯按钮) and other surfaces. At the same time, the people around you can touch them.
This isn't nagging(唠叨), the Centers for Disease Control also suggest that sneezing and coughing into your elbow is necessary. Even the New York City subway officers ask the passengers to "cough or sneeze into elbow or use a tissue".
"The suggestion was taken seriously about 10 years ago. However, most people didn't pay much attention to it. That means the adults may have missed the advice. But children are often taught in school the right way to cough or sneeze. "Dr. Benjamin said.
To be clear, people can't keep away from all the risks in this way, but it's the best choice. At the same time, we'd better wear masks(口罩) and often wash our hands. "Hand washing is one of the most important things people can do to keep healthy. "Dr. Hill said.

26、A Man of Vision(视觉)
In 1809, Louis Braille was born in a small town in France. When he was three years old, he accidentally hurt one of his eyes. The sickness spread to his other eye. Later, Louiswas unable to see.
Louis’s parents took him out of schooltwo years later. They thought that there was nothing more for him to learn there. He could not read or write.
When he was ten years old, Louis’s parents sent him to a special school inParis. It was one of the first schools for blind people in the world. Louis learned many skills at this school. Oneof them was reading.
Back then, blind people read by feeling raised letters on the paper. But it was difficult. Too many letters felt the same, for they had similar shapes.
Louis wantedto find a better way for blind people to read. He tried to create a touch system for reading and writing. He believed a system of raised dot(小点)could help. Night Writing-a writing system for soldiers was used. But he didn’t think it was good enough. This system did not allow the fingertip(指尖)to cover a whole letter. The readers had to move their fingers to feel theletter.
After years of hard work, he invented a shorter, easier form of this touch system. He used six dots to form each letter. It allowed a personto feel a whole letter without moving. Blind people could read much faster and easier.
Today, we call this form of written language Braillein honour of Louis Braille.
Louis died in 1852. However, his form of communication lives on. Though he became blind at a young age,he insisted a lot. Instead, he overcame the difficulty, and madea big difference.

27、 Have you ever read the novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland? When British writer Lewis Carroll chopped Alice down the rabbit hole in 1865, he had no way of knowing what it would lead to (how popular it would be). The girl and her friends in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland have become well-known around the world. More than 100 versions of the book have been published. More than two dozen adaptations (改编) of the story have been made into movies. Millions of people are fascinated by the story and the characters in it.
Why have Mice and her friends kept us fascinated with them for so long? Why is the story so attractive?
One reason is that many people think the 7-year-old girl is our inner child. She is the child that we ever dreamed to be. Alice is the center of the book. She's brave, curious and always wants to move ahead to the next adventure. When she meets problems or even is attacked, she never once thinks of asking her parents for help. Instead, she tries to solve the problem in her own way. Maybe this can explain why the story is so welcomed by kids and teenagers. Because nowadays, they have been overprotected by their parents and can't live in a world of their own. Alice is the child they really want to be.
Besides, the attractive setting in the book is another reason. The story is set in an imaginative world. Many things that don't exist in the real world can be found in the story. In the book, Alice can be 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and stand up on her tiptoes. She even finds a blue caterpillar smoking on a mushroom. Kids and teenagers are really attracted by the strange and imaginative world in the story.
The wonderland world makes us connect Alice's adventures with our own childhood. No matter how old you are, there is always a child living in your heart.
