26、 China has recently published its first artificial intelligence (AI) textbook for high school students, following a plan by the central government to include AI courses in primary and secondary school.

27、 As a teenager in the 1990s, Melissa Blake was interested in fashion. Unfortunately, fashion wasn't much interested in her.
Blake, who has bone and muscle disease and is under four feet (1.21 metre) tall, couldn't find jeans or dresses in her size. At age 39, she became a disability-rights fighter and a writer whose work appeared in the New York Times, but she gained a national following in 2019 after clapping back those who made ugly comments about her online.
“People said that I should be banned from posting photos of myself because I'm too ugly. So I'd just like to remember the occasion with these three selfies(自拍)…" she tweeted. Over the next year, Blake posted a new selfie every day.
Her fans went wild, calling Blake a goddess and a powerful woman.
Among her fans is Mindy Scheier, the founder and CEO of Runway of Dreams (梦想T台), which showcases fashion for the disabled. The show is part of the New York Fashion Week. Last fall, Scheier asked Blake to be one of the event's models.
Since the Runway of Dreams show was virtual, Blake's sister filmed her riding her scooter (滑板车)on a quiet street dressed in a T-shirt and an oversize vest.
“It was a little scary," Blake says of modeling. But she's glad she took the challenge. Often, when we think of access for people with disabilities, we think of buildings and employment, she says. But it’s also important to have access to what's fun and enjoyable.
“Fashion isn't going to solve all the world's problems, says Blake. " When disabled people are included, it sends a message that we deserve a seat at the table in all aspects of life.”

28、A typical school day in the UK starts around 8:30 a.m. This is often even earlier elsewhere in the world, with students sitting down to their first lesson at 7:30 a.m. in the US. An average teenager properly needs eight to nine hours’ sleep each night, but in fact a lot of teenagers struggle to get this much. A lot of problems happen because our sleep patterns are not fixed, and they change as we grow.
So a later school start time could help to solve this problem, by ensuring them eight plus hours of sleep and making them react properly to their body’s natural rhythms (规律). There has been a general change over the past 25 years to shorten the school day. This is not at the cost of teaching time (which has remained constant) but at the cost of natural breaks, which has led to reduced lunch time and lesson breaks.
The later start time could help teens’ grades and health. This is mainly because it makes the management of children easier. Managing hundreds of children “playing” requires effective staffing. And there is always the fear that behavior worsens during breaks. So the theory goes that having them in class and strictly supervised must be better.
But this means that students barely have enough time to absorb what they have learnt in maths before suddenly they are forced to study ancient history. And teaching staff also move from one class to another, with hardly a rest or time to refocus.
Clearly rethinking the school day could benefit everyone included. Anyway, it could also lead to better achievements of teenagers and less of a struggle for parents in the mornings.

29、My six-year-old granddaughter stared at me as if she were seeing me for the first time. “Grandma, you are an antique(古董),” she said. "You are old. Antiques are old. So, you are my antique.”
I was not satisfied to let the matter rest there. I took out the dictionary and read the definition(定义)to Jenny. I explained, “An antique is not only old, it's an object from earlier times. a work of art…a piece of furniture. Antiques are treasured," I told Jenny as I put away the dictionary. "They have to be handled carefully because they sometimes are very valuable. An antique is usually at least 100 years old." "I'm only 67," I reminded Jenny.
We looked around the house for other antiques, besides me. There was a desk that was handed down from Rone aunt to another and finally to our family. "It's very old," I told Jenny. “I try to keep it clean and I show it off whenever I can."
There was a picture on the wall bought at a garage sale. It was dated 1867. "Now that's an antique,” I said with pride. "Over 100 years old.” Of course it was marked(留痕迹)up and not in very good condition. "Sometimes age does that," I told Jenny. "But the marks are good marks. They are something to display with pride. In fact, sometimes, the more an object shows age, the more valuable it can become." I believed this was important for my own self-worth.
Our tour of antiques continued. There was a vase on the floor. It had been in my house for a long time. I was not certain where it came from but I didn't buy it new. One thing about antiques, I explained to Jenny, was that they usually had a story. They'd been in one home and then another, handed down from one family to another, traveling all over the place. They had survived through years and years.
For a moment, Jenny looked thoughtful. "I don't have any antiques but you," she said. Then her face brightened. "Could I take you to school for show and tell?"
"Only if I fit into your backpack," I answered. And then Jenny's antique lifted her up and embraced her in a hug that would last through the years.
