24、Bangbang men(棒棒军), who move heavy things without help from modern technology, were once the symbol of the mountainous city, Chongqing. But great changes have taken place to them during the past years. A 2010 survey showed that there were over 400, 000 bangbang men in Chongqing. Today, however, only about 2, 000 are still doing this job, according to another study.
64-year-old Liu Changming is one of them. He became a bangbang man 17 years ago. He’d carry kilos of things, often walking hundreds of meters up and down streets and getting from 10 to 30 yuan. All he needs was a bamboo stick. Back then he had to compete with other bangbang men for customers. Now, he doesn’t have to.
“It is very hard to get business,” Liu told the newspaper. Yet the man is lucky. Several years ago, he found a fixed job in one of Chongqing’s most crowded tourist places, the Hongya Cave, helping a restaurant move out its kitchen waste twice a day. “If it had not happened, I wouldn’t be a bangbang man anymore,” said Liu.
When Liu first became a bangbang man, there were more than 30 others doing the same job in the Hongya Cave. With the development of the city, more and more shop owners choose to use their own trucks or depend on delivery (搬运) services to move things. The number slowly fell to three just before the COVID-19 broke out. As it still influences tourism, he’s now the only bangbang man left in the neighborhood.
When talking about his used-to-be-bangbang-men friends, Liu said sadly, “Most of them are farmers. They are hard-working, responsible and can stand the hardship. But in this modern city, there seems just no place for some of them. Some have chosen to return to the countryside. Who knows whether it’s good or not?”
“Chongqing has changed so fast. The city becomes safer and you can see high buildings being built all the time,” said Liu, adding that the changes bring those bangbang men who still stay in the city as dishwashers or security guards more chances to live a better life. However, when asked whether he would keep on doing this job, he just smiled, “After all, Chongqing is built on hills.”
【1】What do we know about Liu?
A.He became a bangbang man at the age of 47.
B.He often competes with others for customers now.
C.He got 30 yuan every time he carried things.
D.He only moves things in the most crowded places.

D.the Hongya Cave becomes less popular among tourists
【3】We can infer from the passage that ________.
