24、The Mogo Wildlife Park, an Australian zoo, saved all of its animals facing danger from bush fires (林区大火), thanks to a zookeeper, who brought monkeys, pandas, and even a tiger to his home. The Mogo Wildlife Park is located in the South Coast. It is just 10 kilometers from Bateman’s Bay, a popular tourist place that has been seriously influenced by the fires. The fires have made thousands of people leave their homes and at least eight people die.
The zoo houses nearly 200 animals, including Sumatran tigers and southern white rhinos. Chad Staples, the director of the zoo, told the Broadcasting Company that zookeepers were well-prepared to protect the animals as bush fires broke out over the New Year’s Eve. “Thanks to the amazing staff here and a plan, no one is hurt, not a single animal.” Sara Ang from the wildlife park told BBC Radio 5 that some of the smaller monkeys and red pandas were moved into Staples’ home. Staples told the BBC that zookeepers felt it was safer to keep larger and more dangerous animals including lions and gorillas in their night enclosures(圈地) where they would feel more comfortable as bush fires burned around them.
Staples told The Times that the team on-site fought against fires at the 65-acre park for several hours. He thanked his staff for working tirelessly to protect the animals because they “love them like their own family”. The zoo confirmed on Tuesday that every animal was “safe and in wonderful care.”

25、In some places around China, the junior high school graduates have to take a P. E. test. The full marks are usually 30 points and it counts for much in the senior high school entrance exam.
In Nanjing the test is held in April. Students have the test in their own schools. Each student is tested on three sports. They can choose long jump, basketball dribbling (运球) or volleyball. The pull-up is for boys and girls can choose the sit-up. Both boys and girls must skip(跳绳) in the test.
Most students find the test easy and more than 90%of them can get full marks. That’s because they have been training for it during the three whole years. Students in Junior Three usually do lots of practice in P. E. classes. The training makes the test easier than it seems to be.

26、 Talking to yourself doesn't mean you're crazy. It's probably that you’re talking to yourself throughout the day whether you're aware of it or not like. “I'm going to be late!” If you say such sentences, you're on the right side of science-there are actually lots of benefits of talking to yourself.
It's confirmed that expressing some inner thoughts out loud can actually help you better master the present and future and is something we should all start doing.Lisa Ferentz, a clinical social worker and psychotherapist, employs this practice most often when it comes to helping her patients develop a positive outlook about themselves and the day ahead. There's nothing more important than the way we talk to ourselves because that inner monologue (独白) informs all our thoughts, emotional states and behavioral choices,” she says.If you're always critical, judgmental, or facing the day with a negative attitude, you're making it pretty hard for yourself to see positivity.
A good way to adopt a healthy mental state is to come up with something that you're grateful for, your own strengths, and positive affirmations to cheer yourself up; then stand in front of a mirror and say those things out loud.If you feel silly, don' t give up.Once you practice it from a positive place, you discover it's quite easy to do.It guides our life whether we're aware of it or not In fact, one study from the University of Lethbridge found that students who were taught how to engage in positive self-talk were able to change their perspectives, attitudes and reactions.Sure enough, talking to yourself is one of the signs you're actually smarter than you realize.
That doesn't mean you can't speak out your frustrations.Just like there's a place for positive self-talk, there's also a place for negative if you do it the right way."There s definitely a value to understanding what you're feeling whether it's positive or negative, says Ferentz.Bringing the negative thing you're thinking and feeling to the surface then gives you the opportunity to re-evaluate it."Once you voice what's worrying you, try asking yourself if it's useful to keep holding on to those thoughts or if it's something you can let go of.
So next time you hold a little two-way conversation with yourself, don't worry. It's perfectly OK.In fact, science approves of it!

27、Answers to life can be found in everyday events. Watching nature, watching people and watching animals communicate with each other provide some of the simplest ways to life’s biggest problems.
This became clearer to me yesterday. It caused me to ask myself, “How do I respond (反应) to the storms in life?”
People usually run when it starts to rain. I love to walk in it, stand on my front door and feel it. I grew up doing it and have never really felt the fear many people do.
The animal world senses changes in the weather far earlier than humans. My dog, Ricky, begins to shake long before the storm is close enough to be noticed. I was about to feed my three dogs yesterday and as usual, I let them out in the yard first. They didn’t move when thunder came across the skies. So I placed their food in their bowls and called Ricky into the kitchen.
Ricky was just standing there in place next to his bowl. The thunder became louder, which forced him to stop eating his meal. Then I watched Phil. He made his way across the kitchen floor and stood over Ricky’s bowl. He ate all the remaining food. Generally, if Ricky was standing there, he wouldn’t dare (敢) come close. But today, he took advantage (优势) of the storm and got what he wanted. His hope for the prize outweighed (胜过) his fear of the storm.
That’s when it hit me. As men, we face all kinds of storms. They come in unannounced. Sometimes we stay in a corner or under the blankets, hoping it will all pass. However, if you dare put your head out, you’ll discover there’re people doing what they must to get what they must have out of life. Isn’t it time you decided to take advantage of the storm?

B. Ricky stopped eating food.
C. Phil ate the rest of Ricky’s food.
D. Ricky sensed the storm earlier than he.
【4】What would be the best title for the passage?
A. Find out Answers to Life
B. Take Advantage of the Storm
C. Stop Storms in our Daily Life
D. Pay Attention to Everyday Events
