Luckily, people still have a chance to get these abilities back. You should try to keep your parents' numbers in mind for emergencies. You should also pay more attention to street signs and stores , which will help you to draw a mind map and stop you from getting lost. And the easiest solution to social skill loss is to take a break from electronic products.

Somehow we have pushed this pleasure to the back of the queue. A third of American adults report sleeping less than the recommended seven hours. Many of us feel a lack of rest.

Stressing ourselves out about a lack of sleep can make the problem worse. In his book Overcoming Insomnia and Sleep Problems, Oxford professor Colin Espie writes about “orthosomnia(完美睡眠症)”, where people are so focused with sleeping well that they become too anxious to do so. The marketing of sleeping aids adds to this.

Espie says we each have a sleep pattern that, like a shoe size, we figure out through trial and error. The research on bedtimes between 10pm and 11pm will cheer those who leave parties early and give up late-night football highlights, but it establishes no causal link. Genetically, some humans are larks(百灵鸟) and some are owls(猫头鹰); the larks may just have better cardiovascular(心血管) health. For an owl to try to fight their natural schedule, and sleep earlier, wouldn’t necessarily help.

Once we weren’t urged to sleep until we were dead. Now we are told to sleep or we’ll be dead. Taking our biology seriously suggests that Netflix should not try to compete with sleep, and the city that never sleeps is not as cool as it sounds. But nowadays sleep is becoming something that people try to excel at. About that I’m unconvinced. A good night’s sleep is a pleasure. As far as possible, it should also remain a simple one.

29、Airplane accidents always attract attention because of the damage and loss of life they cause. Sometimes, however, an air crash is especially sad and remembered for many years afterwards.

On 6 February 1958, the Manchester United football team had played a match in Yugoslavia and were flying back to England. The plane stopped in Munich, Germany to get more fuel. There was a snowstorm. The pilot tried to take off twice without success. Finally, the airplane took off, but less than one minute later, it crashed into a fence and burst into flames. Every year, on the date of the accident, hundreds of fans gather together at the memorial to remember the lost team members. In 2000, a new tradition started when Manchester United fan Gez Mason performed ‘Flowers of Manchester’ before a match at Old Trafford. That year, he sang by himself, but the next year, and every year since then, on the day of a match closest to the anniversary, hundreds of fans gather together to sing this song.
