24、 Photographer Zhang Zhongzeng has taken a series of photos showing people's lives around 40 years ago in Beijing. Born in 1957, Zhang has witnessed (目睹) China's changes since the reform and opening-up period began in 1978.
Playing with birds
Date: 1983
Location: Deshengmen
During the 1980s, there were many elderly men who loved playing with birds. In the early morning, you could always see them holding bird cages, walking in the park or hutongs, on the road or under a tree. The hobby of playing with birds became popular during the Tang Dynasty and reached its heyday during the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty.
Now there are fewer Beijingers with birds, as elderly citizens' lives get richer and hutongs disappear from the city.
Carriages (马车) in the city
Date: 1989
Location: Hepingli
In the 1980s, the trolley bus (无轨电车) and bus ran across empty roads, while carriages carrying goods or vegetables kept pace. During that time, traffic in Beijing was quite smooth, and three—wheeled motor vehicles, walking tractors and auto trucks could make use of the streets. The most commonly seen transportation was the bicycles, with different brands (品牌), styles and functions.
Sugar—coated haws on a stick

25、 I’m definitely a morning person. I’ve realized how much I can actually get done first things in the morning, between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. That, for me, is the sweet spot. I honestly get more done in those two hours than I often do the rest(其余的)of the day. I’ve developed a habit that helps me be productive(效率)and it includes what I call the law(定律)of first things. This same law is followed by people far more productive than I am, including Bill Gates, Howard Schultz and Jeff Bezos.
Essentially, the law of first things says that whatever you do when you first get up in the morning influences your productivity for the rest of the day. For many of the most productive people, that first thing is often not work. And it shouldn’t be for you either.
Let’s consider the morning habits of these highly productive people. Bill Gates says he starts his day on the treadmill(跑步机),watching educational DVDs. Howard Schultz likes to get up early to exercise, often cycling, before getting started with work. Jeff Bezos, famously, prefers to not have business meetings until around 10 a.m., instead, he makes time for other things at home first.
Most of us get out of bed, pick up our phone and immediately start reading emails or our news feeds. That means that from the moment we wake up, we’re already responding(回应) to the outside world instead of creating space for ourselves to allow our bodies and our minds to practice.
That space matters, and whatever you do first sets the direction you go throughout your day. If that thing is responding to an email from someone who feels it is important, you may never get back to the important things you need to do. You should start your day with something other than work. You might end up surprised by how much you get done.
【1】Why does the writer think he’s a morning person?
A.He finishes all his work in the morning.
B.He has a lot of work to do in the morning.
C.He does things more productively in the morning.
D.He’d always like to do some exercise in the morning,

A.what to do in the morning
B.how to start the day right
C.why to pay attention to starting the day
D.where to spend the morning time
【4】According to the passage, which of the following is the writer’s opinion?
A.We always practice our bodies and minds when we get up.
B.Watching educational DVDs is a good choice to start the day.
C.It’s important to wake up to respond to the outside world.
D.We should learn to use the first hours of the day wisely.
26、 What can we do whenever Earth faces a disaster? Is the only solution running away from the planet in spaceships? The latest Chinese sci-fi (科幻) movie, The Wandering Earth, offers a different and more ambitious (有雄心的) idea.
The film is based on a short story by Chinese sci-fi writer Liu Cixin. In the film, Earth is in danger of being destroyed by the dying sun. Humans around the world work together to build a giant engine system that will push Earth away from the sun. We're taking the Earth with us to run away.
What makes The Wandering Earth different from Hollywood-style space films? It’s probably the special cultural background (背景). For many years, “homeland” has rooted (生根) in the hearts and minds of Chinese people. One old saying is luoyeguigen. It means returning to one’s homeland in old age, like fallen leaves returning to the roots of their tree. There are also many ancient poems about homeland. “The season called the White Dew begins tonight / Nowhere as in our native place is the moon so bright”. These all show that Chinese people have the tight bond (情感纽带) with their homeland.
What is Chinese sci-fi? Guo Fan, the film’s director said, “Chinese sci-fi is a way to express our cultural and spiritual core (精神内核). Otherwise (否则), we’re just imitating (模仿) others and telling the same American stories.” And the film was released on February 5, 2019, the first day of Chinese New Year. It was a time when many people had just made the hard journey back to their hometowns. It seems the best time to tell this Chinese sci-fi story. Anyway, to us Chinese, Earth goes wherever humans go, because it’s our home.
【1】Why do people consider the film so ambitious?
A.Because humans work together to build a giant engine system.
B.Because humans are trying to take the Earth to run away together.
C.Because the film story is written by the famous writer Liu Cixin.
D.Because people have managed to run away from Earth in spaceships.
【2】Why does the writer use the old saying and ancient poems in this passage?
A.To tell the difference between Chinese and American.
B.To remind us of China’s many years of history.
C.To teach some Chinese traditional cultures and spirits.
D.To express Chinese people’s love of their homeland.
【3】What does the underlined sentences mean? ____________.
A.明月几时有,把酒问青天 B.露从今夜白,月是故乡明

A.Its fantastic pictures and settings. B.Imitating foreign sci-fi films.
C.Its Chinese cultures and spirits. D.Its creative and brave idea.
【5】What’s the best title for the passage?
A.The Latest Chinese Sci-fi Film B.What is Chinese Sci-fi?
C.Chinese Sci-fi Sets a New Path D.Chinese Sci-fi VS Hollywood-style
27、阅读理解(2014黄冈)
A recent research shows that physical activity(体育活动)may help students do better in their classes. The research comes because educators in some countries are reducing time for activities like P.E.class.
Researchers go over the results of fourteen studies.Twelve were from the United States, one from Canada and one from South Africa. The studies appeared between 2009 and 2013.They included more than 55,000 children, aged six to eighteen.
Thomas Singh, one of the researchers, says the studies showed a relationship between physical activity and scores on subjects such as math,English and reading.Mr.Singh offers some possible explanations(解释):
There are, first, physiological(生理的)explanations, like more blood flow, and so more oxygen(氧气)to the brain.Being physically active means there are more hormones(荷尔蒙)produced, like endorphins(脑内啡).And endorphins make your stress level lower and your mood improved, which means you will perform better in class. Also, students who take part in organized sports learn rules and how to follow them. This could improve their classroom behavior and help them know what they should do.
All in all,the finding tells us that physically active kids are more likely to do better in school.Mr.Singh says schools should consider the finding before they cut physical education programs.
【1】What led the researchers to do the studies?
A.Schools’cutting physical activity.
B.Their interest in physical activity.
C.The tests including about 55,000 children.
D.Kids’unsatisfying schooling performance.
【2】How many countries took part in the studies?
A.14. B.12. C.2. D.3.
【3】Which of the following is NOT one of the advantages of physical activity according to the passage?
A.Getting more blood flow.
B.Better classroom behavior.
C.Feeling relaxed and refreshed.
D.Greater ability to organize activities.

When he came back in the evening to c【3】 his picture, he was shocked to see that the whole picture was filled with crosses. And some people e【4】 wrote something on his picture. Sadly, he ran to his master and said, “I failed. And if this is what I have learned, I’m not w【5】 teaching. ”
The master smiled and suggested, “I’ll let you know that you’re a great artist. Now go to paint the same picture again and give it to me. ”
Then they went to the same street the next morning and put the new picture exactly at the same place. Now the master took out another board w【6】 said, “Gentlemen, I painted this piece.
