This is only a scene from the first episode(集) of CCTV’s new documentary, A Bite of China 2(舌尖上的中国2), which appeared on April 18, 2014. But they are enough reasons for viewers to spend an hour every Friday until June 6 enjoying in front of their television sets. Viewers(观众) have had to wait a long time since A Bite of China 1 came out in 2012.
Back then, the seven-episode documentary was considered the best one ever produced by CCTV, with its good effects and rich food culture. A famous foreigner praised it, saying “it’s the best TV show I’ve ever seen about food. I’m sure it’s the best one ever made. ”
The new season includes eight episodes, covering 300 types of food. According to CCTV, every minute of the show was edited(编辑) out of 150 minutes of footage(影像镜头). Finding their subjects was often the hardest part of the film team’s job. It took them six months to film a beekeeping couple(一对养蜂), which included a journey of more than 2,000 kilometers.
Food is a personal thing, in that no dish suits all tastes. However, the program has still managed to move all sorts of viewers. “Compared with A Bite of China 1, the new season has a more human touch, which makes viewers cover some tears while their mouths are watering,” said Sina(新浪) Entertainment.
As always, the people are the most interesting part. A Bite of China 2 shows a greater dream—through homemade food, it tells the joys and sorrows of common Chinese in changing times, according to director Chen Xiaoqing of the documentary series(系列).
“I was moved by the people in each simple story,” said Li Weifang, 17, of Beijing No 3 High School. “Their work helps enrich(丰富) China’s food culture. ”
In fact, that is exactly what the new season hopes to deliver(传送). Through the program, “the listeners will see the characteristics of the Chinese people: save and tenacity(坚韧),” Chen told Xinhua Internet.

29、 You can think of a memory, as a photograph. Our brain is like an app on the phone that stores useful photographs for a long time. But it ____ useless photographs. Some people have always been able to recall (回想起) the smallest details about their lives. The experts are now studying Brad Williams and a woman named A.J. The two share the same talent. The goal of the study is to gain a deeper ____ of memory and how it works.
Dr. James found 51-year-old Williams’ memory to be ____ perfect. He can usually tell you what he did on a certain date 40 years ago. He can also recall what was in the news. He can even tell you what the weather was like.
Dr. James had seen this level of ability before. In 2006, he studied a woman named A.J. She too was able to recall tiny details from her life. These details ____ notes she had written in journals decades earlier.
However, they view the ability differently. Williams enjoys having his memory tested. A.J however, said her memories often flood her mind in an unpleasant way. “Most have called it a gift, but I call it burden,” A.J wrote. “I run my entire life through my head every day and makes me ____!!!”
Now, doctors are testing Williams and A.J. They want to know what sets the two apart from others. Williams and A.J. both perform well. But they perform best on topics that interest them. This fact causes doubt among some scientists. They suggest that Williams and A.J. are not so special ____. Some scientists say that people with truly special memories should be able to remember all kinds of information, not just what interests them.
Dr. James hopes that his study will provide answers for both those who doubt and those who surprise at what Williams and A.J. are able to do. “The human brain is the most important machinery in the known universe,” he said. “My aim is to decrease the mystery of this surprising machinery.”
