六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Henry was a very vain(虚荣的)man and he spent plenty of time looking at himself in the mirror. He even went to the barber’s shop every week to have his hair cut. He was nearly fifty, but he didn’t want people to know his age, so he always tried his best to make himself look younger. He also spent most of his money on clothes. He believed that every woman thought he was handsome. He did not have women friends but he had an explanation(解释)for this, “I’m so excellent that the women can’t make a perfect match with(和……般配)me. That’s why they don’t make friends with me.”

One day he bought a new special shirt from a high-fashion men’s shop. It was very expensive. When he got home and took it out of the box, he found a note in it. The note said, “Please write to me and give me a photo of yourself.” The note was signed “Julia” and there was an address to write to. Henry wrote to Julia at once, telling her about himself. Then he put a photo of himself in the envelope(信封)and posted it.

A week passed and then he received a reply. He opened it quickly, hoping there would be a photo of a beautiful woman inside and that she would like to make friends with him.

However, it was very disappointing(令……失望的)to him. The letter said, “Dear Henry, thank you for writing to me. I work in the clothes factory. Everyone in the factory wants to know what kind of fool will buy such an ugly shirt.”

  • 22、   Have you ever run into a careless cell phone user on the street? Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat (微信) without looking at what was going on around them. As the number of this new “type” of human has kept rising, they have been given a new name — phubbers (低头族).

Recently, a cartoon created by students from China Central Academy of Fine Arts put this group of people in their short film. Phubbers with different social identities(身份) lose themselves in their phones. A doctor plays with his cell phone while letting his patient die. A pretty woman takes selfie (自拍) at the scene of a car accident. A father loses his child without knowing about it while using his mobile phone. A series of similar events finally leads to the destruction(毁灭) of the world.

Although the ending sounds overstated(夸大), the harm phubbing can do is real. Your health is the first to face the effect and result of it. “ Bending your head to check your cell phone could be harmful to your neck,” A famous doctor said. “Also, staring at(盯着) cell phones for a long time will damage(损害) your eyesight little by little.”

But that’s not all. Being a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. Many people pay more attention to their cell phones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange situation.

It can also cost you your life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their cell phones in broad daylight.

1Why does the author give the example of a cartoon in Para. 2?

A.To advertise the cartoon made by students.

B.To tell us the world will finally be destroyed by phubbers.

C.To inform people of the bad effects of phubbing.

D.To warn doctors against using cell phones while treating patients.

2Which of the following is NOT a risk(危险)a phubber may have?

A.His social skills could be affected.

B.He will cause the destruction of the world.

C.His neck and eyesight will be gradually harmed.

D.He might get separated from his friends and family.

3What may the passage talk about next?

A.Advice on how to use WeChat. B.People addicted to phubbing.

C.Results of phubbing. D.Ways to reduce the risks of phubbing.

  • 24、Do you want to eat every delicious food in the world? Then do you watch the popular program? "A Bite of China(舌尖上的中国)" is a documentary on Chinese delicious food which has been broadcasted by Chinese central television. Is there any holiday that isn't celebrated with a special festival food? Here are several traditional Chinese foods.

Eggs hold a special meaning in many cultures. The Chinese believe eggs mean producing something new. After a baby is born, parents may hold a "red egg and ginger party," where they pass out eggs to announce the birth. In some areas of China the number of eggs represents(代表)the sex of the child, for example, an odd number(1,3,5,..) for a girl, and an even number(2,4,6…) for a boy .

Noodles are a symbol of long life in Chinese culture. They are a part of a Chinese birthday celebration as a birthday cake in many countries. Since noodles represent long life, it is considered very unlucky to cut it off.

In China a whole fish is a symbol of richness. In fact, at a party it is traditional to serve the whole fish last. Fish also has a special meaning because the Chinese word for fish sounds like the word for richness or plenty, and it is believed that eating fish will help your wishes come true in the year to come.

A very popular dish during the Dragon Boat Festival is Zongzi. This tasty dish is made of rice dumplings with meat, peanuts or other delicious food in bamboo leaves. Zongzi will remind us of the great man Qu Yuan.

The 50-minute program tries to bring something new by presenting more cultural elements(元素),such as eating habits and the quality of eating.
