22、If you do not use your arms or your legs for some time, they will become weak, when you start using them again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows that. Yet many people do not seem to know that memory (记忆) works in the same way. When someone says that he has a good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by using it. When someone else says that his memory is poor, he really means that he does not give it enough chance (机会) to become strong.
If a friend says that his arms and legs are weak, we know that it is his own fault (过错). But if he tells us that he has a poor memory, many of us think that his parents may be blamed (责备), and few of us know that it is just his own fault. Have you ever found that some people can't read or write but usually they have better memories? This is because they cannot read or write, they have to remember them. Since they cannot write them down in a small notebook, they have to remember days, names, songs and stories. Therefore, their memory is being exercised the whole time.
So if you want to have a good memory, learn from the people: practise remembering things in a way as other people do.

23、 Do you like bananas? They taste good and you can have them without washing. However, British scientists say that the fruit may die out by 2050.
One reason for this is climate change. Scientists at the University of Exeter collected data(数据)from 27 countries that produce 86% of the world's bananas. They found that climate change made people harvest more bananas.
However, if temperatures keep going higher, this advantage will disappear. Some countries, like India, the world's biggest producer of bananas, will produce(生产)fewer bananas. By 2050, the fruit may die out.
Shouldn't bananas grow more easily if it's hotter outside? In fact, the perfect temperature for growing bananas is between 24℃ and 32℃. If temperatures get too high, they will stop growing.
Diseases are another danger to bananas. Unlike other crops, all banana plants have the same genotype(基因型). In other words, if a disease is able to kill one plant, it could kill them all.
One serious disease is called Panama. It spreads easily. It has spread across South Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Australia. If one banana plantation(种植园)develop the disease, it will take 30 years until it is able to grow bananas again. Scientists haven't found a good way to deal with this disease till now.

24、 The Chinese tradition of giving gifts of money in red envelopes at Lunar New Year has turned into big business for Web giants Alibaba and Tencent, which now both offer electronic “hong bao”.

It is now possible to exchange “red envelopes” with smartphone, which is popular in China and has caused a battle(战争) for the lucrative market between the two companies providing the service, Tencent and Alibaba.

It’s easy to send and receive hong bao or take part in the lotteries: you simply need to register(登记) your bank details.
