六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   Some people don't like storms, but I think they are very exciting.

There are often storms at the end of a hot summer day. The clouds are small and white at first. However, they get bigger and bigger until they make one large, black cloud. The sky gets dark and it starts to rain hard. And then the streets are like swimming pools. There is a flash of bright light in the sky and then, after a few seconds, you can hear the loud “bang” of thunder.

Light travels very fast, so we always see the lightning(闪电) before we hear the thunder. If the clouds are one kilometre away, you can count to three, between the lightning and the thunder.

Lightning is very beautiful but it can also be dangerous. Lightning is electricity(电流) “jumping” to the ground from a cloud. It usually hits tall things, so if you are outside when there is thunder and lightning, don't stand under a tree.

    1We can see _________ in a storm.

A.a light rain B.a white cloud

    C.a small cloud D.lightning

2The streets are like swimming pools because _________.

A.the cloud is large and dark

    B.the sky gets dark

    C.it rains hard

    D.it's a hotter summer day

3What does the underlined word “flash” mean?

    A.闪光 B.明亮 C.响亮 D.阳光

4If the clouds are three kilometers away, you can count to _________ between the lightning and the thunder.

    A.three B.six C.nine D.twelve

5What should you do when there is thunder and lightning?

    A.Climb up a tree. B.Stand under a tree.

C.Stand under tall things. D.Stay in a car

Try to find out what you are worry about.

Sometimes, you will know what you’re worried about. Other times, you might not. Try to find it out. If you can’t, you can ask for help.

Think of ways to make it better.

There is always something you can do to help you feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won’t solve your problem.

    (B)   Do I have a good place to do my homework?

    (C)   Have I tried different ways of studying?

If your worry is about a fight you had with a friend, you might write down all the things you could do—write a note to her or him, invite her or him to a basketball game, say sorry to her or him, etc. Once you have a list of things you could do, you can choose the one that gets your friend back.

    Ask for help.

When you are worried, it can help to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends or teachers for help.

1How many steps are mentioned to deal with your worries in the passage?

    A. Two. B. Three. C. Four. D. Seven.

2If you’re worried about your grades, you can ask yourself these questions EXCEPT “________”.

    A. Why are grades important? B. What do grades mean to me?

    A. who is often worried B. when people are worried

    C. how to deal with our worries D. what kind of worries people have

  • 23、   As a volunteer teacher, I traveled a long way to a small village school in Longzhou, Guangxi. On my way there, I thought about the village, the school, and the children there However, I felt sad when I arrived there. It wasn’t what I expected. It didn’t look like a school at all! • 24、Last summer my family went camping by a lake in the countryside. There we put up our tents and made a fire to keep us warm and cook food on. On the first night, we sat under the moon and told each other stories.

The next morning, my sister and I got a terrible surprise. When we looked out of our tent, we saw a big snake sleeping near the fire. I was so scared that I couldn’t move. We shouted to our parents to let them know about the danger. My dad started to jump up and down in their tent. This woke the snake up and it moved into the forest near the lake. My dad told me later that snakes don’t have ears but can feel things moving. He also told me it was important not to go near a snake. This was a very useful lesson for me.
